Looks pretty smart, should do though for the cost. Going to be around the $1.2 billion dollar mark. Will hold around 65,000 expanding to 75,000 when required.

I've heard it's made of cheap man-made materials and that when you're inside it you experience, at best, extreme sweatiness and odour problems, at worst - heat exhaustion and possible death.

 

Qatar have asked to borrow the plans as a last minute replacement for their aborted stadia.

Not so keen on this one, bit boring. Pretty steep stands though, hopefully will make for a decent atmosphere! 5/10

Looks pretty decent, wasn't Bordeaux one of the grounds used in the World Cup though? Same for a lot of the stadiums, seems odd that they're being redeveloped again so soon?

Has the Bordeaux one yet another with a retractable roof? Not a fan of this, football is meant to be played in the elements (within reason).

it's no further out of town than their current ground, but it is about 8 miles further East.

they made the stands bigger for the 98 world cup, but went a few years ago and it's not really a modern day stadium at all - bear in mind, it was 16 years ago, hillsbrough was used for euro 96 but it would never be used if we got a tournament again

 

thing about france is, they don't have so many new grounds - so if they want a tournament, they're going to have to build some new ones

That programme on Quest last night, about the construction of the Arena Amazonia, where England play their opening game, was pretty interesting. I didn't realize that they had to connect the whole region to the electricity grid by building pylons through the rainforest and across the Amazon, before they could complete the stadium. No wonder it was behind schedule!

The bit when they had the architects and lift manager stood in the middle as they removed the temporary supports to prove their confidence the whole thing wasn't going to collapse and the fact they built the equivalent of 2 Eiffel towers to cross the river.

The new Arena Corinthians were Brazil play their opening game on Thursday, looked pretty spectacular on 'Building the World Cup' on Quest last night. Apparently they only completed it in April. The LED screen which runs the entire length of the outside wall of the stadium was incredible. Athough they did gloss over the collapse of the roof which killed two workers, which they referred to as an 'incident'.

 

I liked the way they subtitled the Irish bloke who'd laid the pitch even though he was speaking English on the programme.
