Any one who votes labour after what they did to the country last time they were in power wants to give their head a wobble the labour leaders should have been charged with treason, that Ed Balls makes

  • Where do you draw the line there? Maybe have a camera in your front room? Why not if you've nothing to hide? Although of course GCHQ should be allowed to listen to whatever they see fit and I'm sure t

I've no grasp whatsoever on owt political, however UKIP will be getting my consideration if they promise to deport the swarthy looking fellow who kerbcrawls around my neighbourhood on a daily basis shouting...

''SCRIP MITTIL! FLESHING, WASHEENG MASHEEN, CUKKERS!''

See I don't buy into this "the Tories inherited a mess" routine

Places like Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle etc etc are a million miles ahead of where they where when the Labour Party took over in the late 90's

granted borrowing went through the roof but a huge part of that was bailing out the banks & introducing economic stimulus to avert a depression post Lehman brothers. The Tory party admitted that rescuing the banks was the only way forward so in turn agreed to the huge additional national debt.

Anyone who thinks we would have been better letting the banking system go bust is a mentalist pure and simple.

No need to google the definition of 'fool' when you're around mate.

Without being rude I think you buy into a few concepts far too easily. Firstly, why would leaving the EU drag us back decades? Don't agree with that. The fundamentals of trade would remain - businesses will trade across broders, if it suits them. So why would it no longer suit them? We won't know the impact of coming out of the EU until we try but claiming anybody who believes we'd do just fine outside of the EU is 'insane' is... insane.

Secondly, we've heard all the same rhetoric for the last 15 years on immigration (both parties) and we are no nearer controlling it.

I've heard it so many times now I genuinely don't believe a word of it, nor do the people saying it, they just want to fudge the issue until after the election and hope it goes away afterwards.

It isn't a case of buying into things too easily, rather one of looking at the evidence that has been presented. The majority of businesses are in favour of EU membership, for a reason, as significant parts of the UK economy are reliant on EU membership and migration. That isn't opinion or rhetoric that is fact. Our public services, specifically the NHS are also reliant on it.

Economically as you say the argument rumbles on about better or worse and you simply cannot be factual about that. But I'd take what over 70% of major UK businesses say regarding the membership of the EU more seriously than I would many other viewpoints. Frankly I see little reason to take a huge risk for what I see as very little gain. Wouldn't change my life if migration was stopped directly, but if the business I work for suffered then it might indirectly effect me negatively. The major issues this country has wouldn't go away, they might just be made worse. I don't really care past that.

If UKIP can convince me that they actually have a genuine thought through plan that isn't revolving solely around appealing to the Daily Mail readership in a cheap and rather obvious way then I might start to listen. But up to now they just sound like idiots peddling cheap and unviable solutions.

Whitt was born here, he can't be deported.

I wouldn't repatriate Whitt, he'd end up in Montenegro instead of MG...

As an aside, what would UKIP do about the no doubt thousands of swarthy deadlegs who'd had kids whilst on the scrounge over here, these kids are British citizens by birth surely?

Here comes skippy right on time ????????

Put it this way if labour hadn't inherited such a mess from John major then I'm sure they would have had us in a stronger position but they spent their first term sorting out his "mess". Likewise if thatcher hadn't picked up a "mess" then maybe the Tories wouldn't have left such a "mess"

You can go on and on - the reason we have had a changed in government is because things ain't right. my issue is its 5 years on and Osborne is asking for 5 years to balance the books - exactly what he said 5 years a go when he had full knoedge of all the facts (mess)

If he wants my vote then he needs to stop blaming what he inherited and start delivering against the targets he gave himself.

I'm pretty much in this boat.

Who gives a shit about targets? Ooooh NHS targets are up etc. Police given targets. We sound like we are being run like a two bob sales organisation.

I think this is as sensible sentence as has been posted on this entire thread

Not really, you have to set some targets otherwise you just bumble along not knowing how good a job you are or aren't doing.

Set a target, and if you don't reach it, then explain why you didn't reach it.

Surely the target is to do the best you can, as there's far too many variables to provide an accurate prediction? Fine if you are selling three piece suites, a bit pointless when running a country as all you are doing is giving the opposition a stick to beat you with.

Osborne clearly does

He just said in his autumn statement that the deficit will have gone in 5 years time should he be in control of the budget over the next government.

He said the same thing 5 years a go and is starting to sound like a broken record, still blaming it on what he inherited even though the first time he said it he was in full knowledge of what he had inherited.

If he stops passing the buck on for missing the targets he set himself then I would have more faith in him delivering what he is saying he will do next.

The thing is; that's factually inaccurate. "New" Labour inherited the best set of financial circumstances in decades.

Labour then completely runied it over the next 13 years, as is their wont.

If I was in power, I'd set myself more acheivable targets, then I could say I hit them.

Like, "I declare that my government will have a lovely cup of tea and some cake in a bit"

or "I say the NHS will treat the odd broken leg and all that"

If I failed on those, there's a good chance I don't deserve to be PM>

What measure are you using for financial circumstances?

Aye ok, the conservatives lost by a landslide because things were triffic

That or millions who had been voting conservative for the past decade or so suddenly realised that their parents voted labour so they best change political preference

I guess you had to be there. PR and spin arrived with a bang. That cunt Blair and his spin doctors fooled me and many more.

Look at him now, the cunt.

I appreciate spin has a lot to answer for

But some on here have the view that everything labour have ever done is evil and the conservatives walk on water - that for me is complete bollocks

As stated before I'm hung at the moment and am probably heading towards not bothering voting

I just don't like this spin that the conservatives have a get out of jail free card based on what they inherited even though it's 5 years on

What sort of cake would it be?

I presume you would also impose some sort of "gruel tax" on lobby as well

What measure are you using for financial circumstances?

Whatever you choose

  • Low inflation
  • Falling unemployment
  • Very low public sector borrowing
  • Low historic interest rates
  • Stockmarket at a high
  • House prices at a high

Not for nothing was it termed "Labour's Golden Inheritance"

I think that people were ready for a change after 18 years of Comnsrvatives who seemed out of ideas

Then the Govt were embrolied in many issues around "trust" that weren't helpful

Sleaze, unpopular leaders, divisions over Europe... It had also been quite painful to get to where we had and people had decided to vote them out long before the election.

But it was an absolutely fantastic set of circumstances to come to office in.

Why don't they just start again, Miliband and Cameron can gather them all together and pick sides properly in turn and not bothering with political affiliation...

Like in the first few weeks of secondary school, when you didn't really know if a lad was a cunt or not but you'd noticed he was hard in the tackle and seemed no nonsense (hello sailor!)

The fact is, more and more share opinions like Birch, without being entrenched in this right/left dogmatic bollocks that holds us back...The only shame is we tend to abstain and nobrashes garner more support as a result.

It was a global recession and we are one of the few countries to be looking to emerge from it.

Who said they have a get out of jail free card? Judge them on their record. We're in a far healthier position than most countries now.

Imagine where we'd be if labour had got back in? Christ.

It isn't as cut and dried as that either. We were one of the few countries to pull our of the recession and have economic growth and that was under Brown's government. In some ways Osborne took us backwards for a while. I agree that they have done a decent job with the economy but reality is that economically both main parties are virtually identical.
