I too have no issue with immigration per se. My fear/concern is that we are in the middle of an experiment with immigration. Can a country cope with the degree of change we are currently going through?

The 'problem' of immigration isn't a purely British experience. All over the world politicians are gaining power using fear of the foreigners.

 

The world as whole has changed and got a lot smaller as a result of huge technological and transport advances.

 

These things are fantastic when us brits use them to advance our lives and businesses living and working in Australia, America etc.

Not me, mate. Couldn't be more wrong.

The world has changed, fear of all things foreign is a pointless and pathetic way to run a business or even a country.

 

But then i have no issue with immigration numbers, although i do agree with the tory plan (i dont say that often) to stop benifits to foreign nationals til they've paid in for X amount of time. If people want to come live and work here. I couldn't give a shit where they're from.

 

We need to get to the kids now and teach them that there are no jobs 'beneath them' and anyone who looks down on cleaners, veg pickers, bin men etc for grafting for their money is a cunt and their opinion matters not a jot. This applies to dole scroungers and professional types in equal measure.

 

As a country we've created generations of folk overly reliant on the state in one way or another. Factories, mines, mills etc are greatly reduced in numbers so those not of an academic ilk are left with less chances for employment when they leave education than those running the country had when they left school.

That said i know folk with degree's (some admittedly in shit like Media Studies) working in retail, call centres, McDonalds etc because thet was all the work they could find/get.
