Mega in Minneapolis. Massive in Minnesota. Big in the US. But just another international artist for the rest of the world. For me all this outpouring of grief is OTT. 4, maybe 5 songs of Prince's I ca

Life is just a party and parties aren't meant to last,

  • Have they? Or is it just because we are getting to the point where so many people are considered famous that it seems that it's every other day an icon leaves us? Don't get me wrong some of the celeb

Stop Whispering, Thinking About You and Anyone Can Play Guitar is one of my favourite album "hat tricks"

Harrowdown Hill is a brilliant tune that went under the radar.

Learned recently that Harrowdown Hill is the name of the place where Dr David Kelly was found after his apparent suicide.

Indeed. But that was Thom Yorke on his own, not Radiohead. The Eraser was a fucking good album. I admire your taste.

Kid A is the albums the aliens will take back to their home planet once they've visited earth.

It's fucking genius.

I'm fucking amazed that there's someone else on here who has that opinion. I saw them in a 10,000 capacity tent in Warrington on the day they released Kid A. One of the best nights of my life. The opening notes of 'Everything In It's Right Place' still send a shiver up my spine.

Yeah - I know. But it's of the same ilk.

Spider - I'm sure it was you who used to tell a story about watching Radiohead live - in a circus tent or something?

Someone in the crowd shouted 'cheer up you miserable cunt' half way through one of the quiet numbers and so they played the remainder of the song in a jaunty fashion to take the piss. Something like that anyway - or have I made it up?

I think the circus might have been in Warrington for some reason?

I remember Thom Yorke having some interaction with a heckler at that Warringon gig, but I don't think he changed the set. I think he just told him to fuck off.

This is the audio from the entire gig, but I can't be fucked listening to it all the way through at the moment. Maybe tomorrow.

Spider you bastard. I've been telling that story for years.

Hold up, I am actually going to listen to the entire thing now. It's got my nostalgic juices flowing. Day off tomorrow, so why not. I'll report back with my findings.

Edit 1: Fuck me, I'm only 13 minutes in and memories are flooding back of holding my mate up by the shoulders of his leather jacket to get him through the entrance. He was absolutely smashed after drinking in Wigan beforehand. What a fucking band! Airbag and now Karma Police!

Edit 2: I've just remembered they played 3 nights in that big fuck off tent in Warrington. I'm only listening to the night I attended (2nd of October, 2000), so Spider could be talking about a different night. His story will forever remain unprovable. I'm still going to listen to all 2 hours of this gig.

You love Savage Garden too?

You love Savage Garden too?

I have visions of you two standing on a mountain and bathing in the sea, laying forever, until the stars fall down on you.

Only if they could not get a copy of Man or Astroman "A Spectrum of Infinite Scale"
