October 5, 20169 yr In the 1970's era I'm sure I heard a story of some Bolton fans getting into a ground, getting into the bars under the stands and robbing the ale, it may of been Ipswich or Norwich. Can anyone confirm this for me please, bit of a disagreement in the pub that's all with a know it all. Thanks in advance
October 5, 20169 yr Author Cheers BB, a similar story came out about another club and I knew our fans had done the same.
October 5, 20169 yr Early morning football match on the pitch followed by some much needed refreshments.
October 5, 20169 yr My late brother and another poster on here (no names M!) spent the night before the Oxford away game in 1975 inside the Manor Ground, having arrived before the end of their home game on Good Friday. They hitched up from a noon Kick-Off at Fulham that day, arrived in Oxford late afternoon and nipped in 'early' for the next match on Easter Saturday as the exit gates opened, bedding down in the main stand. Two days, two defeats, but he dined out on that tale for years! Didn't confess to pinching any beer, but knowing Martin ale would have been involved at some point.

I only knew Martin as a Norwich fan so enjoyed that tale.

October 6, 20169 yr Talking of breaking into bars, we used to do it regular on a Sunday afternoon. We'd climb over the Embankment & go into the bar under the Burnden paddock gat a crate o brown ale & take it back to the railway lines where we would drink it as fast as fcuk then spew it all back up on the bus home. 12 yr owd pisspots we were
October 6, 20169 yr If my memory serves me correctly they used to store the ale in crates behind that beer stand in the corner of the embankment. You could walk past to get through to the manny road north down a alley from the embankment.
October 6, 20169 yr Author I've just took the puppy for a walk and this bloke I wouldn't know from Adam told me Ipswich away was a fantastic day out, apparently he was on it and the pitch was covered in polystyrene cups, one of the best away matches he's ever been on. He was at the Oxford game too, the same as :-)
October 9, 20169 yr One trip from the Rupert too Blackpool, resulted in new tangerine nets for the mighty Morris Green.
