Not just the Americans fighting Japan. I mentioned in another thread that Dad was still involved with other naval operations against Japan till VJ Day. Agree about the difficulty of pushing back the Ruskis though. Ironic that we went to war because Hitler invaded Poland and that it ended up as part of the Soviet Empire.

    My grandad was in Burma fighting the Japanese and was in Singapore before it was invaded was lucky to get out of there . 
     

    the funny thing was with Poland it was invaded by German and the Russia at the same time  in 39 but Britain and France only declared war on  Germany . Reason  being we only had a treaty with Poland  in case Germany invaded . Germany and Russia had a pact till hitler tore it up big mistake on is part
