Me too, devastated, another legend gone.

Saw them in Manchester circa 79. Great live act in the day.

Never knew he did the solo in beat it for whacko.

Slash did the riff for black and white.

That first album was very good and he was a fantastic guitar player. Can’t say I was a fan of their music but saw them as a support act in Manc in late ‘70s and they were very, very good

Jump was utter pop shite

Even if you didn't like Van Halen, he moved what a block of wood and six strings can sound like. Arguably push on guitar as mush as Hendrix in terms of tech and sound.

Diamond Dave was a great front man, thought he might have gone on to be a household name.

Don't even here of him now, is he still living?

He had an MTV show in the 80s for ages, earnt a fortune, went back for a make up tour, earned a fortune again. In the UK we don't realise how big Van Halen were in the States.

Also listen to that solo again, almost sounds like a keyboard. The tapping, down strum drop whammy bars.

RIP awful way to go.

Incredibly unnecessary guitar solos and Jump is appallingly but no doubting their legacy

Absolutely!!! The stuff that he did early days to move the music on from just simply a wall of sound was amazing

Its a shame that a bloke regarded as a guitar legend is best known for a keyboard riff

Was it throat cancer?

Stop smoking kids, nay good for ya.

I will not take that. Especially from a man in cowboy boots.

Glorious bit of pop, that end section with the keyboard solo is great.

Jump is a magnificent bit of pop music, they knew exactly what they wanted to make and they made it as perfectly as anyone could.
