Are you also happy if two people are convicted of the same crime, that only one of them faces the death penalty?

Oh, and that’s decided on their ethnicity and religious beliefs?

Like most countries with the death penalty? Yes.

Its nothing to do with their religious beliefs

We might have got crossed wires here - don’t understand your response (sorry).

My point was that in Israel now they have passed a law where there is the…

“execution of Palestinians convicted on terror charges for deadly attacks, but not Jewish extremists accused of similar crimes”

Surely that can’t be right in a democracy can it? Laws apply equally, without fear or favour?

Btw, the UN Human Rights chief says this would be a war crime……

So the answer to your first paragraph is that’s how most countries deal with the death penalty.

Your second sentence is only 50% correct.

There are plenty of experts on this subject who’ve concluded it meets the criteria of genocide. A quick google will show you plenty of those people & organisations.

There are also plenty who don’t think it is or who don’t yet.

But there’s no denying more & more are calling it such. You’re acting as if it’s some kind of tinfoil hat conspiracy

What most people tend to do is read the evidence then come to their own conclusions. If you’ve looked at the evidence & don’t think it is, then fair enough. You won’t find me laughing my tits off about it 😄

I’m not sure what you’ve found so hilarious about someone having an opinion , but each to their own.

I don't want to get involved in this because there is clearly murderous intent from both parties but if it helps those debating on this thread then I hope the following quick AI search may help in some way.

Q to AI -What international organisations believe Israel has been conducting a genocide on Palestinians

Ans -

AI Overview

Several international bodies, United Nations panels, and human rights groups have stated that Israel's military actions and policies in Gaza constitute genocide against Palestinians. [1, 2]

Major International Bodies and Organizations

  • United Nations bodies: The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory concluded that Israel has committed multiple acts of genocide, including mass killing, inflicting unlivable conditions, and targeting essential survival infrastructure. UN Special Rapporteurs have also issued similar severe findings. [1, 2, 3, 4]

  • International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS): The world’s primary professional organization of genocide experts passed a formal resolution stating that Israel's conduct in Gaza meets the legal definition of genocide under international law. [1, 2]

  • Human rights organizations: Prominent global groups including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) have accused Israel of perpetrating a genocide. Additionally, prominent domestic human rights groups like Israeli organization B'Tselem have reached the same conclusion. [1, 2, 3]

  • Specialized research institutes: Organizations such as the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention and Genocide Watch have classified the campaign as genocidal. [1]

(Note: While the United Nations' top judicial body, the International Court of Justice, is reviewing a formal genocide case brought against Israel by South Africa, the court itself has not yet issued a final ruling on whether genocide has legally occurred. The Israeli government vehemently rejects all accusations of genocide, calling them baseless and politically motivated.) [1, 2]

Q to AI - What countries have stated that Israel has been conducting a genocide on Palestinians

Several countries have formally accused Israel of genocide or joined legal proceedings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). [1, 2]

Countries Supporting the ICJ Genocide Case

South Africa formally initiated the case against Israel at the ICJ in December 2023. Numerous nations have since joined or stated their intent to join the legal proceedings: [1, 2, 3]

  • Belgium

  • Bolivia

  • Chile

  • Colombia

  • Cuba

  • Egypt

  • Ireland

  • Libya

  • Maldives

  • Mexico

  • Nicaragua

  • Spain

  • Türkiye [1]

Other State Statements

  • Qatar: Leaders, including the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, have publicly described Israel's actions in Gaza as a "collective genocide". [1]

  • Other nations: Several other countries have issued strong diplomatic statements or parliamentary declarations recognizing or condemning the military campaign as genocidal, though positions across the international community remain deeply divided. [1]

Note: Israel strongly rejects all accusations of genocide, calling them baseless, and maintains that its military operations are conducted in self-defense under international law.

In which case that is truly shocking.

I suspect though in most countries (with the death penalty) it’s because of the relative strength of lawyers and prejudice of juries.

In Israel though it’s enshrined in law.

You will find the very first post I said in this was that those who are making the decision at the moment don’t agree with you. Which is a fact. I’m not sure how that is tying myself up? I do find it odd that the people making the decision, the ones with all the evidence and info to hand can’t decide on an outcome yet but some bloke in Scotland can.

But it’s not just one bloke in Scotland who thinks it’s genocide is it 😅

And it’s not “a fact” that they don’t agree with me.

As you’ve just admitted in your ‘badly worded’ post.

Tying yourself in knots 😄

The problem with the Israeli law is that their justice system is corrupt to the core. Similar levels of barbarism to a Taliban court at times.

They’re allowed to kidnap & hold prisoners indefinitely without the right to a fair trial.

Theyve been accused of torturing prisoners.

So I don’t think anyone can trust them to get this right.

Wonder if the IDF who bombed the 5 year old girl & the paramedics trying to save her will be served the death penalty?

Well If they did agree with you then the verdict would be genocide. Guess what?

There is no final verdict yet is there 😆 It’s not expected for years.

They’ve said the evidence for the accusation is strong.

You said it was a fact they didn’t agree… then you admitted you worded it badly & actually they were still deciding …

Make your mind up lad 😄 You’ve dug yourself another hole here.

Yes there’s no final verdict as they’ve not made a decision. Which I have said twice and you keep repeating. They have all the evidence you have seen a fraction of it yet you have said theres genocide? maybe you could point them to what they’re missing so they can get this case sorted 🙄 There’s only one digging themselves a hole here.

So the likes of Nicaragua, Cuba and Bolivia and the Maldives are saying it is and the UK, Germany, Canada and the states are saying it’s not. 👍 I know who I’d be leaning towards

You said it was a fact they didn’t agree

Then you admitted that wasn’t the case & they were still deciding

Got yourself in a proper muddle 😆👏

These international law cases take several years for lots of reasons. You can look up why if you want, it’s an interesting insight.

You’ll have to ask that question to multiple organisations & The IAGS who all think it is.

I can respect that some people might not though or might want to wait. You just seem to think everyone else has to wait for ICJ verdict before they express an opinion.

But don’t you dare express an opinion that you agree with them. The ICJ haven’t released the verdict yet 🙄

Yes it’s fact they don’t agree with you at the moment. If they did the case would be over. Christ you’re slow. Be interesting to see which part of Israel’s defence you don’t agree with. I mean you agree with a lot of organisations that aren’t allowed into Israel.

Yes, that’s a mega organisation. Only 24% of its members could be arsed voting and they got the majority of their info off organisations that aren’t allowed into Gaza before e mailing in their vote 😆

https://aijac.org.au/featured/factsheet-the-icj-and-icc/

I heard something along these lines a bit back.

Of course it's written by a Jewish supporting group, so will inevitably be wrong.

Nevertheless, I don't think it was the original source I heard.

There will never be a concensus, nor a fair approach. As such Israel will continue to do as it sees fit.

As the ICJ is an arm of the UN, I'm minded to accept that there is plenty of lawfare going on, which in turn makes it impossible to judge to what level Israel is a "bad actor".

No doubt the country oversteps the mark at times, then again so do numerous nations, and to a higher degree. Plenty of which are members of the UN.

A total shit show and in a way a sham.

If, however, it can prevent or reduce conflict by means of political posturing with no real meaning, then maybe the UN does have role.

Fwiw the condemnation of IAGS is from an article written by Robert Satloff,

Satloff is the executive director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP).

WINEP is unsurprisingly an is a pro-Israel American think tank based in Washington, D.C.,

The Washington Institute for Near East Policy - Wikipedia

His article...

A Charade in Academic Garb | The Washington Institute

...was again unsurprisingly originally published on the Times of Israel website.

And unsurprisingly for the third time, Robert Satloff is Jewish

Information confirming Robert Satloff's Jewish heritage comes from his own autobiographical book, interviews, and biographical records.

  • His Book: In Among the Righteous: Lost Stories from the Holocaust's Long Reach Into Arab Lands, Satloff explicitly details his personal identity. He wrote that after the September 11 attacks, he moved his family to Morocco specifically as a Jewish-American researcher to uncover Arab-Jewish history during the Holocaust. [1]

  • Interviews & Articles: He frequently discusses his background and perspectives in prominent Jewish publications, such as Hadassah Magazine, the Jewish Exponent, and The Times of Israel. [1, 2, 3]

  • Biographical Profiles: Major biographical databases tracking prominent Jewish public figures, including Jewish genealogical and historical registries like JewAge, document his heritage, family details, and career. [1]

As for IAGS vote it met the Institutes requirements in regards to it being a quorum and percentage vote wise - so completely legit, some local and national elections in the UK have had similar low turnouts.

A voting quorum is the minimum number of members who must be present or cast a ballot for a group to conduct official business or make valid decisions. [1, 2]

Key Concepts

  • Minimum Requirement: If fewer than this required number of people show up or vote, any decisions or election results are null and void.

  • Turnout Quorum: In public elections, this is the percentage of total eligible voters who must cast a ballot for the election results to count.

  • By-laws: The exact number or percentage needed for a quorum is usually written in an organization's rules or governing documents

The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) passed a resolution on August 31, 2025, stating that Israel's actions and policies in Gaza meet the legal definition of genocide. [1]

Voting Details & Statistics

  • Approval Rate: 86% of the members who cast a ballot voted in favor of the resolution.

  • Voter Turnout: Approximately 28% of the total membership participated in the vote, clearing the organization's requirement that more than 20% of members take part and over two-thirds approve.
