October 29, 2025Oct 29 People seem to forget these 'gangs' involve some massive companies, agencies, folk with vested interests making some absolutely massive money. Reckon Serco and their investors want the boats stopping? It's one giant corrupt racket.

The UN announcement went under the radar the other day, as do most COPs these days. None of the previous mass extinction events saw this much carbon being released at the rate that it is. It's the tipping points that will cause the most chaos. Devastation to crops and water scarcity will force hundreds of millions if not billions to move. No way any country can accommodate climate refugees whilst needing pour billions into its own climate mitigations. We could even be one of the populations that has to leave. All this coupled with the continued denial and inaction from politicians. We're fucked. The world has an incredible way of sorting itself out . It's just happening a lot sooner than people expected. I get people's concerns over immigration, but we'll look back at this short snippet in time and wonder why the Asian population of London was our biggest concern 😉

Even Brompton road has spots that resemble lower Deane road. nestled up against £6million terraced homes. Shisha shops, vape shops, shosha shops and vape shops. Then Harrods. Then a shisha shop. Cities will always be cultural melting pots, but it just feels like one culture is doing the melting.

You don’t have to be an “expert” The shortened version of what I posted in the politics thread is to make it as unappealing as possible. But I'm not arguing smash the gangs is working? A huge operation of undercover military and cops arresting smugglers or even boarding the boats then cutting them before they leave would make some impact. How do you know this has been done as part of the smash the gangs approach? Governments have been using deterrents and making it 'unappealing'. That's not been working either has it? You're also advocating for a failed approach. Would it not be best to re-evaluate the Refugee Convention?

Just think back what's happened in the last 3-4 weeks alone. Sex attacks, gang rapes, stabbings, terror attacks, that's just in the past few weeks and all headline news.

These short snippets hey I was referring to this short period of time being a snippet, not the crimes. Not dismissing them either. It also had a wink at the end, but I knew folk would take it literally. We will look back at now and have huge regrets over our unwillingness to address climate change. No doubt about it in my mind. It doesn’t fucking work, stop being so naive. What’s unappealing about leaving a card board city in Calais to go and live in 3/4 star hotels in the U.K.? Have you actually followed anything that’s been happening?

I wonder if the media have been more focused on crime when committed by a foreigner? Could be because there literally is a lot more crime being committed by foreigners, or the 'other side' is being underreported. Be interesting to see the latest crime stats to give us an idea. Either way. We have enough crime as it is without adding to the problem.

But moving to miliary barracks won't be any less unappealing to migrants. It's probably on a similar level to some of these hotels and certainly better than a cardboard city. Interesting perspective here suggesting that it had potential to work but the French stopped cooperating due to their own political turmoil and backed away from it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn8vr95n5n3o I think it has potential with consistency and cooperation.

There are towns close to me in Fife and the central belt with 98% White British populations that are increasingly turning into shitholes.

You didn't need to comment on the climate change post.

Why can't they exercise? Bit extreme 😄 What's a basic meal ? A potato? Either way It won't deter them. They'll come. Do their stint in prison like conditions and await their decision. It won't stop the boats. Wouldn't it be better to re-evaluate the refugee convention? Edited October 29, 2025Oct 29 by London Wanderer

Not the buffets they’re being provided. “Prison like conditions” Jesus fkin Christ yes re evaluate it, maybe do what Poland and Hungary are doing, but do something and get away from this “smashing the gangs” nonsense that clearly doesn’t work.

Staying at a barracks with no right to leave is similar to a prison. I’m not arguing whether it’s right or wrong, but you can’t deny the similarities. What you’re suggesting is a detention facility from the get go, not sure what’s wrong with me pointing that out? Anyway It won’t stop people coming if they have a chance to have an application accepted. You’re calling me naive and offering a solution that will cost a lot of tax payers money & has no guarantee of stopping the boats. Back to climate change 😉 I think given the sheer scale of mass migration we’re about to see, then looking at the Refugee Convention has to be considered.

Places in Manchester and Liverpool that were overrun with cockroaches and mice. They couldn't work and got £39 a week. Many had risked their lives crossing one of the busiest and coldest stretches of water in the inhabited world. The idea that making the place less appealing would act as a deterrent is for the birds.

It’s not, you don’t have a choice if you want to be in prison or not. Same as folk working on rigs or on some military establishments, they’re confined to barracks/living quarters. like the asylum seekers it’s a choice, if you don’t want it, don’t go for it. Im Calling you naive because you’re offering the same solution that has already failed. You’ve no idea that it won’t stop people coming. Wasn’t the idea that Britain being tough on immigrants (Brexit) the reason immigration fell and many immigrants already here returned home? This is applying the same logic.
