  1. Hahahahaha......love it ND and Traf. Handsome bastid whoever he is and could that be a nut and bolt restored 1966 LiS Silver Special brought up to SX200 specification or are my eyes deceiving me?
  2. I was on the right hand terrace (right hand for someone looking out from the away end) and that was fully packed with Bolton up to the half way line which is about where we were. As you rightly say, the Darwen End was absolutely sardined with Bolton fans. Never seen a terrace so tightly packed with Bolton (been in some though ). Just checked and the crowd was just under 28,000 and I remember at the time thinking there was no way less than 15k Bolton there and probably, as you say, nearer 20. Come the end of April that will be 28 years ago 8-[ 8-[ Bloody hell Satan. I was loving these reminiscences until you mentioned the 28 years! Doesn't seem that long ago. Wasn't that Frankie Worthys debut for us? Seem to recall it was but could be wrong.
  3. Never saw it myself but a mate went on holiday to Snowdonia and was in a chairlift going up the side of whatever mountain (Helvellyn rings a bell) and there it was in 10 foot letters on the mountainside - Matt BWFC.
  4. I might see you. I am told i've deffo got one for the Trinidad game and 99% sure of a Sweden one. After that who knows but I fancy the next two after, as I know we will get to the QF both Sven does his hand wringing frozen monkey act. Wey hey Jazza mate. Long time no see, they are not being very nice to you on here are they?. Sure you would be welcome in Germany. If not I'll have a beer with some item of german food chucked in for you! Looks like there's a chance we'll catch up in Nuremberg or Cologne then. Only having Jazza on a bit. No real malice towards the Scots (none at all towards bluenoses). Just treat them the way they treat us. They support everybody against us - I support everybody against them. The difference is - I would never go out and buy a Faroe Islands shirt. You should have seen it kick off in Perth when a decent number of em turned up at the England - Argentina live telecast Japan 2002 wearing Argentina shirts! They won't be doing that again methinks! What is that all about? Saddos had German shirts on during the '66 World Cup final. One word. Envy.
  5. Shame the poor sod was shafted when he was at his peak. That 70 quid fare Manchester-Boston was great in its time.
  6. Everyfuknthing! Bleedin' hard being down here and getting barred up reading your Marseilles threads tha knows.
  7. Like it? Why wouldn't I? Good sense of humour and supporters of the finest football club in history. What's not to like?
  8. This is my 100th post. I have just got back from the World Strawberry picking championships. It was won by a woman with no legs. Jammy c**t.
  9. Nice one Zoz. Slipped in another Jam reference I see. Should be compulsory.
  10. Just spotted your signature LA. John Byrom. What a fcuking player he was Never forget that hat trick v Stoke in the first ever Sunday FA Cup game at Burnden. My favourite BWFC player of all time. Do you remember his bricklaying exploits and delivering bread in a Warbys van in the close season!!?? Are you the bloke often seen with the stars and stripes BWFCSC Los Angeles?
  11. Kinell Traf! They have skyrocketed. I sh*t you not - we paid AUD$4300 each for a 5 match England package, mid range seats with euroteam. That's about 1800 quid for all 5 tickets at todays exchange rate. Mind you, we were first in best dressed in May 2005.
  12. Spam fritters. Faggots (not the ones you're thinking of WTH). Carbolic soap. Wrights coal tar soap. Derbac. Acdo. Johnnies. Malt & Cod Liver oil (phwoarrr Deirdre, can I spread some of this on yer to get that authentic Grimsby feel?).
  13. thanks very much for that. will def check them two site out. i will be over there with or without a ticket so i will hold you to that pint! As I said mate. It would be a privilege to buy any BWFC fan a beer in Germany. Even that sweaty Jazza who, despite his apparent anti Englishness lives in England and seems to be anti Rangers, appears to be 'one of ours'.
  14. If I can find it Traf, it's yours for nowt. Have a suspicion the missus may have turfed it with a lot of my football trophies. Rescued about 20 of the latter and am looking at em in my office as I write. Women just don't understand such things. ("Don't think I'm dusting all o' them!").
  15. Aye Satan. Unforgettable. Every little hill track back to Bolton nose to tail with cars full of pissed up BW fans. Every pub chock full and must have made a bleedin' fortune. Can't remember the crowd figure but there must have been 20,000+ Bolton travelled up that night. Fair dos to the few inbreds that ventured out. They must have known what they were in for. After the Town End kicked off, they legged it into the side opposite where the players tunnel is and it all went off again in the bottom corner next to the Darwen End which was packed tight with BWFC. OB didn't have a clue what to do.
  16. Thanks HSP - the nightmares will start again now. My leaving for Oz do in January 88 was at the Strawbury Duck, Entwistle. 50 of us on the train. That fcukin record was on the jukebox (I sh*t you not) and the lads got the landlord to present it to me as a going away memento. Still have the fcukin thing somewhere. Will burn it.
  17. I wish this was entitled 'Best ten rucks' cos I remember some blinders at Hull, Port Vale, Leicester, Birmingham. Settled on the night Frank Worthy won the old 2nd division championship for us at Ewood Park. BWFC took the place over as expected but it kicked off in their Town End when about 25 of us infiltrated and some old scores were settled (not necessarily football related - there was other stuff going on too). Different now but then that sh*thole was a greaser town and Burnley was still full of Teds!
  18. Aye, World In Motion the best ever England song for mine.
  19. I do Allwhiteone. Boars Head was sound but never got into going downstairs to the Lower Nags and drinking Greenall Shitley. Fcukin atrocious stuff that was.
  20. Thanks for the responses lads. Fcuk me. Star & Garter a mincers pub! That and the Founders were regular meeting places before heading off to the Palais for a night of drinking and hunting flatdick. If you were really lucky at the Palais, Manchester and Salford would come up looking to take on Bolton and Farnworth. Usually a comprehensive home win. Wish I'd a tenner for every time I'd seen a Manc over that balcony! This all led on to the battle of Worsley Civic; mayhem at the Big Apple in Farnworth and the invasion of Leigh which a few of you will remember or took part in. Happy days where Bolton ruled the roost. Not many got any change out of us. Wonder if any of this lot can be sought out in BEN archives?
  21. Not sure on that one ND. Did you get my PM? Know any of the Roadrunners/Spartans mentioned? PM or e-mail me. Love the graphic. Too much of a computer numpty to do owt like that miself like.
  22. You thinking of the Lord Clyde? Nah mate. I know that one. Opposite that fcukin Euroway Car Centre Lada place. Remember when BWFC had that as the sponsor!!?? The embarrassment! As Frankie Worthy once said, "What's the difference between a sheep and a Lada? It's much less embarrassing being seen getting out of the back of a sheep!"
  23. Nice to know the magic of a Halliwell Rd. pub crawl is still available! Is the Peels Arms still a pub for cocoa shunters? Last visit was to see us beat Arsenal Jan. 2005. Seem to recall a lot of new bars in Nelson Square opposite the Pack Horse. Is that where some of the new ones you mentioned are? Ebony Club was opposite the bus sheds at the bottom end of Bridgeman (?) St - not far from t'Painters Arms. Moved there after they demolished bottom end of Folds Road for St. Peters Way. Anybody from Waterloo St/Turton St area tell me what that little pub tucked away near Bolton Gate Compny was called. Doin' me head in trying to remember. A Bolton lad down asked me a couple of nights ago. All I can definitely remember is that it was a Bass Charrington house.
  24. Answering Aloverofbeer - we have had our tickets sorted since May 2005 (took the punt that England would be there). Booked with FIFA approved Euroteam (www.euroteam.com) who were involved with the womens World Cup in the USA and apparently did a bang up job of it. They offer 3, 4 and 5 match packages. We took high category tickets for the 5 match England package and it cost us AUD$4K each (about 1700 quid). Not that pricey when I got the flights for nowt with frequent flyer points saving about AUD$2500. Another source is www.razorgator.com who guarantee tickets for ANY event - sold out or otherwise. Only the price an issue. For the Rugby World Cup final, we got straight on to them and got tickets for AUD$770 each when the cheapest in Sydney was AUD$1500. When Jonny Wilkinson kicked the clincher, it landed 3 rows in front of us so they were shit hot tickets. For those going off this site - look out for an England flag with Perth Royals WA on it (England football, rugby and cricket emblems in three quadrants and Bolty,Cov, Brunge, Higgo, Teffers and DD in the other) It would be a privilege to buy thee a pint.
