I can't see Murphy breaking into the Newcastle side. Definitely not good enough for that level. But I thought Owen Beck was shite too and he's gone on to do ok. He gets caught out of position too many times, not great going forward and not particularly quick. His only standout attribute is his height. Maybe he would be a better CB, but at the moment he's definitely a weak link.

Murphy didn't look good defending one on one against that winger second half. He turned his back a couple of times when getting run at which wasn't great. He's tall and it does cut out the diagonal ball a bit because teams don't try it as much as they would with a smaller player, so that's a positive. He's young and inexperienced but he deffo needs be better than that defensively for the rest of the season.

He's a forward, think that's clear now given it didn't work out him dropping into midfield earlier in season. Also he got 16 at Grimsby one year, too many for a midfielder. probs disagree about Barnsley. They liked him. He suited their pressing style. As others have pointed out, Huddersfield fans have a much different opinion of Dion than we do . He's definitely shown glimpses, Crawley away etc. I think he works better In a two and not a 1. So firstly, of the top of my head, one of his assists was crawley away where Mcatee smashed that one in the top corner. He played a simple pass to Mcatee , but that was all Mcatee. His other that I can remember was Northampton away, again for Mcatee, early ball across. Can't remember his other one. Point being both of these were from relatively deep positions, positions you would find yourself in as wing back. If were playing 4 at the back, he's being asked to do something different as an attacking midfielder wide player. He's not getting the ball In deep positions anymore, he's getting it in the final third. He's not got the profile to play as an attacking midfielder. Hes not quick enough to beat a player with pace alone. Hes no right foot which makes him easier to defend against. He's weak, very weak. I can't remember him consistently putting in amazing balls as wing back. I honestly can't remember that many. There is nothing he's shown with us that to me shows he's been good enough to operate as a creative attacking midfielder. JDC has 5 assists and he gets more shit than most Bolton players and he's fucking miles better than Schon. Some of the shit JDC gets on here is laughable. There no hatred, sure he's a nice bloke, but I think he's shit.
