  1. Thatcher recognised that all mines were uneconomic. ie. it was cheaper to buy from abroad just as Labour had done previously. Yoh still haven’t shown how Labour supported inward investment in areas affected.
  2. Boris was elected as Prime Minister in December 2019. In January 2020, a virus was detected in China that has changed the way the world works. How can anyone judge his premiership to any other in history?
  3. The highlighted bit.
  4. During the Brexit referendum, there were 3 types of voter. Those who were happy with the status quo, those who wanted change and those who looked on the side of a bus. The later type of voter I could probably spot on here easily enough.
  5. I’ve listened to this political rhetoric for over 30 years and no one has ever shown any proof. The facts are that Labour closed more pits than the Tories.
  6. Not as many. The att. was 10,000 in 71 and just under 28,000 in 76.
  7. Yep you’re right. Mixing up the 71 LC and the 76 FAC. Went to both and the 71 was at night. The 76 was in Jan and it’s always dark in Yorkshire in winter.😊
  8. Nope it was a Tuesday night. Assuming we are talking about the 1971 match?
  9. No a Tuesday night I think from memory. Think I’ve told this before but we hitched a lift from outside Burnden. A mini van I think. After the match, in the van, we were approached by a group of angry Huddersfield fans and the guy in the front passenger seat pulled out a gun from the glove compartment and pointed it out of the window. The Huddersfield fans disappeared quickly. It may have been an air gun. It may have been something bigger. We didn’t ask and nothing was said.
  10. Unofficially, and none ticket matches only, 1st Blackburn then Huddersfield. Most of the other matches quoted were ticket only. For me, the Huddersfield match was the one that made me realise the potential support we really had. Unbelievable noise we made that night.
  11. Cummings tells lies. It’s been established beyond doubt. Now it seems he’s not such a naughty boy. That’s politics for you. 😊
  12. This should be in the politics thread but . Why?
  13. Finished work early today for no other reason other than I can. Prepared the food last night for our planned BBQ. Chicken Souvlaki. Just me and my wife of 37 years. An hour in the garden discussing some important issues, then food and wine. Not disagreeing with anyone tonight. Life is good without politics. Especially if the suns shining. Anyway. Jacob. Happy St. George’s Day one and all. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
  14. Ta very much but I found the kindle too small. I know you can increase the font size and all that but just preferred a tablet with its added benefits.
  15. Not when you look at the opposition. It’s as simple as that.
  16. Pretty much read a book a week since this all started. Mainly detective fiction based in Berlin before, during and after the war. The Phillip Kerr novels and a few others of a similar vein. A few other topics for a change and a few bio’s. More importantly, I finally and reluctantly changed from paper to digital. First with the iPad and Apple Books and then bought myself a cheaper tablet (wife complained about me monopolising it) and now use the kindle app. I miss Waterstones though. Might go in for a coffee soon.
  17. Fair enough. I’ll leave my post unedited to show that we are all wrong sometimes.👍
  18. Yes. But not in that video. You surely noticed that the sync was out and that no other media outlet reported it and that when you watch the original....... etc. etc. You really did believe it didn’t you. Like all the other stuff you post from Twitter.
  19. France? Don’t even talk to me about andouillette. 🤮
  20. Had Rabbit once. It’s the only meat I can’t stand. Probably because I had a little white one when I was young. Boris eats one for breakfast, every day, raw! I saw it on Twitter.
  21. I’m guessing that, like all the people who replied to that tweet, you actually think that’s real?
  22. 😊 Maybe. Just an excuse to share it. Waiting for an excuse to share 10 commandments of man...
  23. For anyone who wondered where Madness got there name.
  24. My youngest son was there the night the power went off. Noel promised everyone a refund. The power came back on and they continued the performance. He said he would honour his promise and sure enough we claimed and got a cheque signed by both Noel and Liam. We still have it😊
  25. I stand corrected. Always thought it was the other way round.👍
