My Mum and Dad said everyone was happier during the war. They all said that in those days. We, by the way, were the have nots back then. We weren’t migrants.

I’m guessing people complaining about wearing a mask on a plane don’t use public transport. It’s now normal practice for many people daily. Like everything else in this pandemic, we have to adapt. I’d wear my mask for 24 hours tomorrow if it meant I could go to Australia. The chances of bringing anything back are pretty remote as their rates are almost zero. Not everyone goes to Benidorm for their holiday.

Been to three places since they reopened. Rivington Brewery, Rivington Cafe and Northern Monkey. All three slightly different system, all three great service. Used the qr code system at NM and it arrived in less than 2 minutes.

Most just walked away. Disappointed as any other fan. Don’t know about the yoof. I think the dispersal order in Horwich sent all the cretins down to the ground. I was young once and I’ve seen all sorts of fashion from the Teddy Boys, Mods, Rockers, Soul Boys, Glam Rock...etc. etc. Sports Direct is the new fashion scene. (It has to be black) Soulless, clueless and senseless. Flares look good but not when you throw them indiscriminately into a crowd. Dicks.

😊 Its normal end of season nerves. There have been many of these over the years. As I said in an earlier post. Not many teams have been in our position. Doesn’t get any easier though.

Loved Burnden but like everything in life, things change. Great memories at Burnden. Great memories at The Reebok. Wouldn’t change a minute of it. Good and bad. The bad times make the good even better.

That’s it, right there. As a fan, we put up with all sorts of football. Good, bad and utter shite but the overriding reason for any fan is being there. That’s all that matters to me and most other fans. Television or whatever is a poor substitution for actually being there.

First match for me was in 66. Last match of the season. 1-1 draw against Norwich. Stood on the Embankment as a wide eyed 11 year old with a couple of mates from L/H. It was a boring end of season match but it was the humour of the fans that grabbed me and hasn’t released its grip since. A bloke at the side of us, obviously bored, shouted as we took a corner. “Come on Fred, (Hill) give us a laugh, kick the corner flag” Appreciating our laughter, he said “you have to laugh cocker” No one ever said that in L/H. I was hooked there and then. Tomorrow could be another notch on the up and down experience of being a Wanderers fan. No idea about stats but has any other team experienced the same? Being a Wanderer is a privilege. I may even turn up on that grassy bank tomorrow and think of Freddie Hill. Also known as God.

My stock comes from a ham cooked as a Christmas ham so has a certain flavour. I soak the ham and then pre boil it to remove some of the salt. I take it in a flask on a cold walk up on the tops. Nothing better. Apart from mulled wine. Thinking about it, next winter I’ll take two flasks.👍

I think I may now be pseudo middle class as I now call dinner, lunch. Haven’t called it dinner since school. I can, however, work in both metric and imperial so both work for me. Tea, though, is Tea and no one will ever convince me otherwise. Most of the time, I skip lunch but during the lockdown periods, it became appealing. Most of the time, I’ve been having home made soup with a chunk of bread. My favourite is my perfected pea and ham soup from the stock of a ham cooked previously. Made with overnight soaked peas obviously and small chunks of the ham leftovers.

He could try building a party with politicians fit enough to run the country and that also appeals to enough people to gain a majority. Just like Blair did. It ain’t going to happen. Sadly, he has no option other than mudslinging.

Most of the pit closures under Labour were in the sixties. If they had been in power longer there would have been more. I don’t remember any plan for the communities at that time. The demise of the coal industry was as inevitable as the demise of the cotton industry for the same reasons, cheap imports.
