Terrible, January 12, 2004
Reviewer: meddling_kids from London United Kingdom
This is terrible. I am really stretching myself to even comment on this travesty. Trees have been felled to produce this wasteful dirge & that in itself is an appaling crime.Tens of thousands of people may have bought this, but dont be fooled - it is a stinker.More of the usual sickly twee Parsons reminiscing, without the plot to carry it off. Tony P. seems to have hit upon a winning formula & is sticking to it, despite it being a truly rotten waste of time. Tony - I do not know how you can look at yourself in the mirror each morning - this is not a book, this is a monsterous crime. Do us all a favour & turn yourself in now.THis is a prime example of of the generation of money is more of a driving force in modern publishing than the Art of writing can ever be.rotten rotten rotten.

Hornby's mini-me wannabe, December 18, 2003
Reviewer: A reader from Truro, Cornwall United Kingdom
In the seventies Tony Parsons wrote a skinhead novel. Tough , rebellious and a substandard clone of the novel "Skinhead ".
Now Parson's attaches himself like a leech to post-lad lit , and reinvents himself as a sensitive male struggling with fatherhood. A bit like About a boy. Nauseating and succeeds in making Hornby look like a towering genius.
