  6. It's true isn't it; when the Paddock was packed against Leeds or Wolves or someone late 70s you could tell summat was about to happen but it never did until the obligatory coffee had been lobbed. It was like the lights going out at the start of a GrandPrix or the gun at the start of a 100m sprint. There'd be a little pause and then all hell let loose. Perhaps we could get that red ginger to build a pointy statue like the one by Citeh's ground; put it on the site of the Paddock and call it "the c of the coffee". Everyone who remembers the Paddock, specially from the old days do this now. Deep breath, sit back, close yer eyes and just picture yourself going up the slope from under the stand to the terrace. Couldnt see owt until you got near the top but you hear the crowd and smell the ciggy smoke.... I've got pictures from the Charlton game though unfortunately me very last ever one was fucked up - I tried for one last piccie of the full length of the emptying terrace - but I'd been supping all day and wasn't quite with it and so had me camera back to front and me final majestic picture of the Paddock turned out to be a close up of me gut. #-o Still I managed to hang back and be in the last dozen corralled in the corner by the Lever End before we had to bow to the inevitable. It was a shit-heap, but a ragging brilliant one.
  7. Paddock memories thread called for: Kicking off in there, little lads running like mad towards the Lever End and then when the dust settled running back to join in the chant of "you'll never take the Paddock" House brick getting lobbed back and forth between us and Burrnley. Kicking off against Bradford the game before their fire. Sheff Wed fans trying to escape over the fence and one being too slow. I can still picture him draped over the fence with his mates pulling him from the pitch side and Bolton fans getting stuck in from the other including one bloke lamping him with his crash helmet. Against Arsenal, maybe in the Cup in 1981 or whenever, Arsenal fans being led from the Lever end to Embankment and someone lobbing a milk crate from the Paddock and twating one of then on his yed; it must have hurt but to be honest he looked surprised more than anything. Big oranage balls that mysteriously appeared and got chucked round. wondered for ages where they came from till someone on here said they were from groundsmans wheelbarrow. Having to take the laces out of me steelies and leave them by the bogs. Flying coffee cup that signalled it was kicking off Many many more....cue nostalgic smilie
