  1. Ipswich weren't resting players for their next game though. Just saying I hope derby need to at least avoid defeat. Equally hoping Burton are down before we go there.
  2. Derby away for them depends massively on derby needing points. Glad they lost tonight but I can see them already being in play offs before last day and we all know what that means to the line up and effort.
  3. That post was meant to be response to comparison with taking 4k to vale.
  4. Very different though...50% more expensive, longer journey, New ground for many at vale, and a genuine chance of a promotion party. Also all away games were selling out so we were all buying tickets weeks in advance not knowing wheels were going to come off in meantime!
  5. All this about Madine being top scorer...is it possible to be the only striker picked, to be the only player in the box 90% of the time, to get to take pens despite having dreadful technique, and to take more free kicks than your ability justifies, and somehow not be top scorer? I'd love to know if there any teams who play 1 up front in all 4 divisions who's striker never gets dropped that has been outscored by a teammate who gets dropped every 3rd game?
  6. Spot on. We lose 2 games, 1 against a team that would still beat us if we had Ronaldo, and suddenly Madine is the reason we lost. Which bit of ALF is a better goalscorer, footballer and team player than Madine do some people not get?
  7. Bottom line is we can only stop up with help from others. We have 5 games left and any one of us would be ecstatic with 8 points, assuming we write off the wolves game and get 2 wins and 2 draws (optimistically). So we stop up or go down based on what Barnsley and Brum do in their games. Someone convince me they will drop enough points.
  8. That Madine discussion is great, I particularly like "I spotted that he was shit at the millwall game". Where were you when you realised Madine was shit? Such a difference between seeing someone have a bad game, e.g. Ameobi, Henry v Brum, and that no-turning-back moment of realising 1 of your regular 1st teamers is, indeed, shit.

  10. Not sure about that, they were all over Bristol and twice led. Imagine leading twice in ONE game! Have we ever done that? If they score 2 against us we lose.
  11. Put me in the puff corner, went sheff wed and it put me off going Leeds coztoo many away fans are idiots, confirmed by reports at Leeds. They will be out in force at oakwell and all i'm interested in is the result so I don't need the angst of being there.
  12. Just don't see us winning away anywhere and millwalls results speak for themselves. If we need to score v forest and they defend...well you know the rest.
  13. Same as Leeds and Brum, their previous results don't include playing us.
  14. Its all about Barnsley away. If we lose we will go down because we only have 3 other games in which even a draw is feasible. Every one of Barnsley's 7 fixtures looks winnable especially as derby probably won't need points on the last day.
  15. And took pens. If 1 had been given last night ALF would be on 3 goals in 4 games, he is simply a better player than Madine in every single aspect of the game apart from chest control.
  16. Brum won at Bristol last year to stop up, if necessary they'll do same again but can easily win 2 home games and 2 away so they are beyond us even if they only in 3. Every Barnsley game looks winnable given that most won't be playing for anything and 1 is against us.
  17. I remember doing the same, but I listened to radio 2 hourly sports bulletins (no 5 live back then). That was a long night, criminal that players etc had gone on holidays etc not knowing if they had survived relegation.
  18. That week was the 1st time I found watching bolton rewarding. At 2-2 I was really gutted and left the paddock, shocked that we were going down. There was no sense of it being an important game, we felt resigned and there were only 5,000 on, no atmosphere. Then with a chance of survival we got 13k on v sheff wed and it was a fantastic occasion and atmosphere as we won 3-1 to stop up. Alan Gowling and Tony Henry the heroes.
  19. Totally agree. Taylor not fit enough for div 1 and looks like an old man in this league. OK every manager has 1 blind spot, but taylor, vela, wilbraham? And dropping wheater?

They will improve now they have got rid of stam, they have good attackers and will get the ball forward quicker now.
  21. We were told we were pushing 20k for villa, and it turned out to be the worst turn out I can remember for a home game. Selling season tickets, at cheap concession prices or £1 kids tickets, and turning up for an 8pm ko on a freezing night are 2 very different things. Whatever they claim the attendance is, won't be near the truth.
  22. Nothing to do with Birminghams previous game, we haven't played on an easter bank holiday in donkeys years (ever at reebok?) probably due to police costs. Why play on a day most fans would prefer when you can inconvenience them and reduce the attendance? Same with 8pm ko times instead of 7.45.
  23. Johnnyrotten replied to Casino's topic in Terrace Talk
It won't happen but everyone's last 3 games should kick off at same time as rest of division. Last season was death by a thousand cuts with those staggered matches, playing after the competitors have already cranked up the pressure. If Barnsley or Birmingham are playing and winning the night before we play wolves or Burton it's just added pressure the team (and us) don't need.
  24. Spot on, agree completely on both players.
  25. I meant the numbers that turned up, not the efforts of those there. I was there and it was the lowest league attendance on a Saturday that I can remember, not sure how you could disagree.
