  1. Been reminiscing today about the album sleeves I had to hide from my Mum, I brought this one from WH Smiths opposite the Town Hall, would it be on open sale today? There's another one, "Blind Faith", I daren't put that one up as I'd be accused of being a nonce, google it. Sign of the times?
  2. Back in my day every band had to have cover art by Roger Dean or Hipgnosis: https://www.theguardian.com/music/gallery/2015/oct/21/roger-dean-somewhere-near-here-prog-rock-album-covers-in-pictures https://soundblab.com/lists/hipgnosis-30-best-album-cover-designs
  3. This one always cracked me up... who was the fkkr in the baggy tights?
  4. Electric Ladyland... thought of you 🙂
  5. You can be arrested taking photographs on Italian railway stations... I know from experience
  6. Italian steel used to be known as the "most reactive", hence engines falling out of parked Alfa Romeos. Briefly had a Fiat X1-9 until the fkkr rusted away
  7. Agreed, he definitely deserves time, as I said earlier I don't know how much good guy/bad guy stuff and mentoring from above happens anymore. I would imagine the Chairman would once upon a time deliver a morning after bollocking and an hour or so later Nat would walk into the manager's office for a cup of tea and a football chat.
  8. I keep thinking about our position today and that under Phil Neal, there are many similarities, both obviously had/have a good eye for players but the spark to light the firework was/is lacking; Rioch took Neal's squad, added a few of his old lags and lit the bonfire.
  9. More than 15yrs... I've always thought of us as a "nearly" club, said to the missus last night "we've become a nearly club again" and she nodded. There's always been a casual, almost laziness, about about BWFC
  10. We are in danger of losing our sense of adventure, I grew up in the 60-70s when we used to sit little men on top of 10,000 tonnes of liquid oxygen and blast them into space armed with computers no more powerful than a kettle and slide rules. We used to compete to who had the fastest and highest rocket planes, these days we don't do it for the hell of it but have to justify the financial costs. I prefer it as it was
  11. I've had the same thought myself including playing Gilks in defence and him standing next to him! (not serious folks). Dixon had a really good game at Rovveram, trouble is when goalies make mistakes they really stand out
  12. In the old days the manager would be "summoned" by the chairman the morning after and read the riot act. He would probably have to commit to a number of points he had to get from the next half a dozen fixtures. Then he would be sent scuttling back to the training ground while the chairman stares out of the window. I don't think that sort of thing happens anymore..
  13. I was beginning to form the opinion that Dixon was showing promise, we all know it takes a season to properly bed in a new goalie but now it remains to be seen, it all depends how he bounces back. After the first half I totally agree with MickyD that a goal keeping howler should not have mattered and the back 5 were asking for trouble particularly in the second half. I've just watched the official highlights and something the commentator said has prompted me to post, he referred to Hartlepool's spirited play and even effervescence, something we are lacking at present and play in a rigid manner, if IE tells us his players need to be able run then why do they stand making square passes? We seem to be incapable of learning from our mistakes, we all say "move on" which is correct but we must look back and learn also.
  14. So what was Richie Sunak doing over in California other than visiting his San Diego holiday home? I read somewhere he was "fact finding", meeting up with US health financiers (insurance companies to you and me)
  15. I voted remain simply because I didn't want a shock to the economy as I approached retirement, ten or more years earlier and I would have probably gone with leave. Brexit has happened and there's no going back but it has left us with a massive amount of work in re-configuring 40 years of legislation and the government does not appear to either want to or be able to roll its sleeves up.
  16. Sorry I went quiet but I had to have an early night, work today 😞 I apologise if you thought I was trying to mislead. I read the piece in the printed newspaper at 8am when it was £3,000. It appears the story developed during the day, hence it becoming £1,400 in the on line version that I first read when posted above. The Sunday Times first broke it and the Guardian ran with it yesterday so maybe some credit notes were hastily put together to minimise damage, who knows? As I said earlier I don't mind the expense if it leads to some sort of result, I wonder what was agreed? If it was lifting a trade levy on steel than Biden obviously over ruled it. I do not like the posh boy (& girl) circle that this government has created where there are too many hanger-onners like posh Mayfair restaurateurs, we need proper talent from outside this very limited gene pool. That is why we need a free press who keep digging... and a more effective opposition, big majorities are not good.
  17. Our blockage must be the Good Friday Agreement which was the elephant in the room during Brexit, I didn't think of that one at the time. We really must concentrate on settling that issue. Then Biden will move on and ignore our blatant arse licking when Trump got in
  18. It now appears there was big discount for early payment but who can check when they'll all pissing in the same pot? £300k would have been good value if Liz had achieved something, such as getting the 25% US steel levy lifted
  19. I did think of a Right Guard Gift Set for Andrew Windsor
  20. If the border issue was sorted without schoolboy threats then Biden wouldn't be blocking us.
  21. Try saying that in a Scunny Social Club
  22. I read today that Trade Secretary Truss spent £3k on a lunch at No5 Hertford St with the US Trade Envoy. Obviously it came to nowt but the restaurant is owned by a major Tory donor so the money wasn't totally wasted.
  23. And re-start our Woad industry for the covers
