Well as he is the current captain of Argentina, only 30 years old and a name player in European football I would imagine there will be bigger clubs than us after him who can offer him European football .

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce may try to sign Argentina captain Juan Pablo Sorin from Villarreal. (Daily Mail) From the BBC gossip column apparently the Daily Mail are trying to convince people we have a hope in hell of signing Sorin Another one to add to the not a prayer collection or am I getting old and cynical ?

So about 10 more than Okocha. Fifteen minus 9 = 10 ?
-
According to the official site this is now cancelled on Police advice although doubtless Natasha had something to do with it as well.

I think the frugal mentality of Gartside and Davies will be proved to be the correct way of running a club over the next 10 years.

Sorry which bit of the message didnt you understand ? In those 9 games alone he saved us ??15m to ??20mand has since cost us ??4.5m which would seem to leave Bolton well in credit on the JJ deal to me. For the record the first half of that season he was injured so didnt appear much until after Xmas so he didnt actually play anything like 29 other games. Are you sure you actually go to the matches ?
-
If you check the official site for the results etc for the West Ham season you will see that JJ scored 4 goals and had a number of assists in the last 9 games of that season. Also if you check you will see that we won a number of games by the odd goal or drew matches so its fair to say that without that contribution from JJ we would have been relegated. Being relegated would have cost us ??15m to ??20m per season . JJ at ??30K per week assuming he has done nothing since (which isnt true) cost us ??4.7 million in wages for the last 3 seasons. JJ was a massive player for Bolton and has been a major contributor to where we are now .

For whatever reason Sam doesn't think Borgetti is the answer to our problems. He was never really given a run in the team even when Diouf was injured and Davo struggling for goals. Assuming Sam gets a new striker in before the season starts and Dioufy is back fit then Borgetti might be struggling to even get on the bench.

I went last season to one of the friendly games and I enjoyed seeing Faye and the other new signings in action. I hadn't seen a match at the Reebok for a couple of months and it filled in an afternoon of entertainment with the kids so it was an OK afternoon. Unfortunetely I am away for the matches this season as it would be a good way to introduce my youngest to the delights of football as it is harder to get him in during the season.

I had him down as a bang on cert to go to Arsenal maybe we do have a chance after all.
-
You shallow pussy Homer !!! Yep me too.
-
No thats an opinion not a fact even if 25000 people agree with you it still doesn't make it a fact. So would you rather watch an entertaining 3 v 3 draw with Watford or watch us beat Man U 2 v 0 playing cr@p football ? Sorry but give me the 2 nil everyday/
-
Well I am in the camp of prefering to play averagely entertaining football and being top 8 in the prem than playing brilliantly entertaining football and getting relegated. When we win I am delirious when we lose I am gutted how well we play is a secondary factor.
-
Well I don't suppose player who was at the World Cup but who was barely noticed would make a great headline O:) Nice to get one in the bag lets hope he is a massive success for us
-
Same old thing though you notice the whingers twice as much as the supporters its true on here and its true for Sam as well apparently. I sort of take Sams point that it was a good season last year but its hard to deny that the season rather fizzled out after we went out the UEFA cup but he is correct these are our golden years as a club so we should enjoy them while they last.

From the official site. An interesting read. AFTER finishing three successive seasons in the top eight of arguably the most demanding domestic league in the world, one would assume that the Wanderers are ready for yet another season of prosperity in the Barclays Premiership. Even though the majority of diehards are anticipating a campaign full of optimism, it has saddened manager Sam Allardyce that a number of fans have a pessimistic view of the Club's progress especially the way the season ended at the Reebok Stadium last term. "I get really dissatisfied with people saying Bolton Wanderers had a disappointing end to last season," said a disgruntled Allardyce. "Those that express that opinion are ignorant and na??ve.When you are competing for three years with Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool and you are the only Club to finish in the top eight with those other four, I can't believe that anyone would breathe a word of negativity. This Club has never had it so good and it disappoints me when I hear people knocking us. "Considering we only lost three games at home in all competitions - two of which were to the Champions and runners up - it astounds me. Negative thoughts and comments are very unhelpful. "I am proud to be part of an era where we are creating history for the Club. When you consider the size and strengthen of the squad and the lack of financial power compared to other clubs in the competition, achieving a top eight finish in the past three years is a monumental effort. It is equivalent to say Liverpool winning the Champions League. We should never lose sight of how far we have come and I'm determined to take us on with ambition and enthusiasm. Pound-for-pound we are the best team in the Premier League." The Bolton boss has returned to the Club's training ground after a scouting mission on the continent and is determined to do all in his powers to give the fans hope and glory and embark on taking the team back into Europe. He added: "We will building next year's squad to hopefully re-enter the European dream again. If I can attract the right mix of players we can achieve European qualification again. "The priority is to find the right quality to improve the ability of the squad. The squad is on the thin side, but I won't compromise on quality. "It is difficult to sign good players. It's easy to sign bad ones and that is something I want to avoid. Last year we ended up with Fabrice Fernandes and Martin Djetou, which turned out to be the wrong thing to do. We signed them out of sheer desperation because we needed bodies for our European campaign. When we looked back it wasn't right for us. They didn't really feature and even though they were cheap we didn't get value for money. "I have to wait for the right opportunity and find the players that fit into our blueprint. Ideally, I would have liked a few in for pre-season, but when you want quality that is not always easy."

I said I was bored not suicidal I suppose the question could have been directed at you but no I was talking to the text speaker.

Yeah thanks for that CWP.

As I am already in trouble can we keep this thread on topic no shoes no handbags, no e-bay and no dirty jokes please. OK we have Idan Tal, assuming we have got Meite and Fortune in the bag . These would in my opinion all be classed as good squad player signings so what extra do we need to have what would be a successful summer in the transfer market ? Do we need to sign a top class striker or would another 2 or 3 good squad players suffice ?
-
Hey how did I get landed with starting this thread I was still talking about Gartside O:)
-
Can't argue with that one being clinically insane does have its benefits.
-
Its called making the best of a bad situation Natasha or not cutting off your nose to spite your face.
-
I did wonder why Bolton announced it with other people no doubt after gazumping us again my guess he has signed but is awaiting his medical when they get back from Switzerland ?
