  1. What's Allardyce doing now? Is he available I wonder?
  2. Here in Copenhagen they have Carlsberg Master Brew (not Special Brew) 10.5%, 20kr a 500ml tin, about £2.30 or so. City centre from offy, called Irma and you can drink on the streets here. And, I went for a haircut, only Brit-barber in Denmark, turns out he's from Bolton, and is actually Maurice Kobelt's son who had a shop on Bradshawgate opposite the not really lamented Trotters. 300kr tho for a blokes haircut, £35 or so, got Bolton Buddy rates, 200kr. Kev's cuts on Halliwell road was £3......
  3. 1-1 GOAL!!! Ken Anderson, might be getting on a bit and a bankrupt but he knows where the back of the net is.....
  4. I think I was at Sheff Wed one Weds evening early/mid-80's - we took about 6 fans that night, so few the cops stuck us in a corner of the Kop rather than than open the whole Leppings Lane End, separated by 4 or 5 coppers, and one of our, I hesitate to use the term 'crew' had a bob-hat on, and he was taunted all night by the massed Sheff Weds fans on the remaining 99% of the Kop with 'Who's the Benny, who's the Benny, who's the Benny in the Hat...', incessantly, lost 2-0 thank Christ, we'd have never been able to take the Kop that night, 6 against 15,000..... Next season we took about 25, gave us the Leppings Lane End, one 1-0 Steve Thompson goal, 'ave it.... Off topic again. The only connection is 6 fans....
  5. Rocket Long? Is that his Porn Star name?
  6. Jesus, I'm fucking sure it was Roy Greaves but now realise it can't have been. I'm pretty certain we were 4-0 down and got one back near the end, when the booing started. Monty Python was being repeated on BBC Tue Nights and I wanted to watch them so I'd already half decided I'd had enough. Not sure if we had a video then, when did they come out?
  7. I was home and mostly away every game from about 1975 to 1985 and it was only when things got really really bad that I remember them being booed off at HT. Bristol City at home, lost 4-1, Roy Greaves bagged ours and the Wanderers fans even booed that. That was my 'I've had enough' moment. Didn't go back for ages and havent really consistently since apart from my glory-hunting years late nineties/early naughties. Moving to Denmark now so not sure I'll ever go again!
  8. Here We Go Again Bolton's The Name Super White Fame Here We Go Again
  9. Interest thread that mentions the stabbing incident, one guy claims he was stood next to the guy when he was stabbed... http://www.pne-online.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-45774.html
  10. I remember there was one particular local person who labelled to have 'got away with it'. I wasn't at that game thank God.
  11. I remember seeing the plans in the BEN for the roofed-over Embankment, proper architects drawing so it much have been seriously mooted. Miss Burnden but now with hindsight wouldn't like to have seen it modernised and changed beyond recognition.... Another false memory probably, was there a plan to turn the pitch 90 degrees and extend over St Peters Way? Or was that my teenage overactive imagination? Designing football grounds rather than wanking and shagging? And drinking.
  12. I certainly remember Reidy coming out of all this as a bit a greedy twat - wasn't there a headline in the BEN or a chant of 'Greedy Reidy'? Shame cos he was dead popular before that, met him on a 'SuperWhite Night' c 1976 at what is now The Roundhouse up Halliwell. Think it was North Ward Reform Club back then. Anyone remember SuperWhite Nights?
  13. Then Everton offered us £600,000 for Reidy, we wanted more, went to tribunal and they set the fee at £60,000! We refused, Reidy refused to play, until he agreed to go on a week-to-week, to boos and chants of 'Judas'. Not sure what happened next but I was there at Barnsley when he broke his leg again, in a 3-0 defeat. Heard it snap. Did he resign for us later?
  14. I stopped going in about 1986 after a 4-1 home defeat by Bristol City, only got tempted back by the Rioch resurgence so I never saw that 1990 game.
  15. I have a distinct recollection of watching the Wanderers playing a 5th Round FA Cup match against non-League Barrow, around 1979/1981, the Barrow fans filling the Manny Rd side of the Embankment, really packed. Crisp early Jan. day, sunny but cold, and we won 1-0. Except it never happened, at least I can't see it in any fixture list. I might be remembering the Everton game (boxing day?) and jumbling it about - except the Paddock were I usually stood was full and I had to stand on the Embankment for the one and only time. 1-1, we played in Red at home, orange ball, abandoned at half time, the George Wood incident..... Another one I might have made up is a game where it was so foggy you couldn't see the Embankment end goal (I was a Lever Ender then - left side) and when we scored it was like a Mexican wave roar....
  16. I remember one game at Chester, Milk Cup (cos there was a massive milk bottle on the centre circle before the game) Tuesday night match, 0-0 after 90 mins, 0-0 after extra time, then we missed all five of our penalties in the penalty shoot out. I swore that was it, never again, not wasting my money on that shower of shite..... I was there stood on the Burnden Paddock next Saturday giving them yet another chance....
  17. Bolton, Bolton, Top of the League, Bolton, Top of the League!! What happened to top chants like that and; Bring on the Bostik!
  18. Could be wrong, but I have a clear memory of McQueens pen at the Stretford End, and being dismayed as went in, and then elated when he missed the re-take. That must have been second half then. Done a bit of research, Worthy bagged both our goals, Buchan for United. That's all I can find online.
  19. Think I was at that game, 2-2? Eastville one of the few grounds you could watch the match whilst having a piss at the same time, due to slots in the bog walls at eye height. Mind you at Bloomfield Road one game 76 ish, hot day, loads from Bolton, this bloke dressed in a Gorilla suit got his cock out and released this emormous ale-fuelled piss stream right down the terracing, never seen a space cleared so quickly.... Was it anyone on here I wonder? Game finished 1-1 How come I can remember all this when I can't remmeber what I did this morning?
  20. Remember the first away game at Old T? I think I ejeculated when Big Frank slotted home over a depairing Gary Bailey, in our end, in the last minute. Also Gordon McQueen scored a penalty, was forced to re-take it, and missed it (hit the post). That would have been 2-0 to United and game over prolly. I have zero memory of our first goal.
