The Glastonbury Thread

Looks wank

There's a handful of acts I'll try to catch but for me it's not a patch on last year

Haven't even heard of the Sunday night headliner, SZA

Or the act before them, Burna Boy

  • Didn’t think it needed saying, but for the hard of thinking - if you don’t like what you are seeing and/or hearing at Glastonbury, just turn your telly over or go out for a walk. Nobody, and I me

  • If you want to see irony at its finest then I give you Glastonbury 2025. A festival so "free-spirited" it’s surrounded by a 13ft fence, armed security, ID checks, and its own holding pen for bord

Blimey. Gary Holton. Kitsch by The Heavy Metal Kids is in my top 10 albums that I’ve ever bought

Yeah, I’m an old cunt like you. Festivals used to be festivals. Who gave a toss what was said or performed. Somebody maybe wrote about it in a fanzine that you picked up months later

Wonder how the 70s/80s festivals and concerts would be reacted to now? Bands smashing gear up, throwing TVs out of hotel windows, punks dressing up in nazi regalia, band members dying from booze/drugs, etc, etc….

A couple of shit bands/artists saying hurty things at a BBC wankfest and the world turns upside down. Just fuck off and die on the vine of disinterest

I think I saw the HMK at the Albert Hall... and they did their His head fell off routine 😆... should they have been banned from Bolton?

They're showing frigging Live Aid on the telly as I write  (I was fitting a kitchen on the day)... total bollocks

And he was allowed to appear on a national TV show as a main character. Disgrace. Whoever commissioned Auf Weidershen should be hanged

Ha. Yeah. Watched it all the way through a while back. Brilliant but so “bad” in so many ways. Pat Roach. Dear me :D

I know. The 'bad' made it better for me - even more amusing. Made better for me by the fact that my b-in-law was over there laying bricks at that time as many Brits were. Some of the tales were priceless.

Regular nice weather, fantastic beer and British lads with pots of money. What could possibly go wrong :D

70s and 80s were very different times.

People weren't locked up for saying hurty words in the pub (the old form of social media posts).

Once a government sets its stall out, it has to apply those "rules" equitably.

Going off topic now.. The series was about 'construction bears*.. I must have done 20 years following the criach... I've been thinking about how we all kept in touch... no internet or mobile phones but we all rocked up on the next job and knew and trusted each other..
