November 24, 2025Nov 24 The government has announced there will be a new National day The day will be to "honour and remember " victims and survivors of terrorism in the UK It will fall on the 21st August every year , hopefully the list of victims does not increase before this date.
November 24, 2025Nov 24 Hopefully the people murdered by all those lone wolves with mental health issues are honoured too
November 24, 2025Nov 24 Also already confirmed it 100% won't be a bank holiday - so that'll be the public having next to zero interest in it

November 24, 2025Nov 24 Would like to ditch one of the May bank holidays to make the Monday after Remembrance Sunday a holiday.

Or what about making the day the Media are frightened of celebrating, the day when we should be proud to be English into a public holiday............March 24th 😏 I'm with you though, that would be a nice touch making the Monday after Remembrance Sunday a bank holiday. Plenty folk say how they want to get rid of religion, so we could just dispense with the Easter break

Not for me. Sounds like something for the grief junkies. I'm sure the families mourn in their own way, and don't need anything else. We have remembrance day; a commemoration and fund raising event, and best left at that.

It comes after a campaign by families and survivors, including those affected by the Westminster Bridge and Manchester arena attacks. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cdd541624j1o

Bravo.

I'm sure others won't feel the same way though. Grieving is different for everyone, and for me, there is a risk it will become "captured" by some who have no link to those families.

Have the previous events that he's organised prevented these "invaders" thus far? Plus, I thought you were always one for cattle prods and water cannons at that type of event? - mass gatherings of the great unwashed

No but isn't that a reason to redouble the effort rather than say "Oh well, fuck it, let's get to the pub before alcohol becomes illegal"? The righteous are clean and well presented.
