Politics - Part 2

Kemi Badenoch doesn’t really need to speak in public more than once a month and she’ll do ok. In that respect, keeping her head down is proving very effective.

Sniping from the sidelines and criticising everyone clearly has merit. 🙃

This is part 2 of the Politics discussion.

Do you think many of the things your lot are currently trying to crow/take credit for would have happened without him arriving on the scene? Not a fucking chance.

You're going to have to give me some examples here. I've literally no idea what you think they are taking Nigel's credit for.

I suppose reducing the huge increase in immigration that's happened as a consequence of Brexit. That influx wouldn't have happened if we'd stayed in the EU. And therefore we wouldn't have been able to tackle it. Apart from that I'm stumped.

It's the hope that kills you.

Our mutual friend Zia would take over if you're correct?

alongside the Brexit benefits.....nobody seems to be able to provide any examples, strange is it not. He's too far in, now, there's no coming back for him

Your maths is woeful.

Ah ok

Desperation has brought you to this point.

It must be going really well then. 😁

Folk like him are now suggesting it may take a few decades for us to see any level of success, which is probably true.....but absolutely nobody (other than JRM, who said it could take up to 50 years) remotely suggested that it would take so long for us to have our golden unicorns and spitfires. Many of the high profile lot (like that uber cunt Davis) suggested we'd see an immediate uplift in the economy and living standards. We'd also be the first of many, as other nations would soon follow suit, I'm not sure that's happening anytime soon

As I've said before, we left, and the sky didn't cave in as some on the remain side said it might, but things are definitely worse, and don't seem to be getting any better anytime soon. I know folk like to blame the Civil Service and Parliament for obstructing the process......did the Leave campaign not know those people existed before, did they not do any due diligence on what or who the blockers might be? - the answer is "no" as they didn't really expect to or want to win.

So far, even the staunchest "Leaver" will admit it's not gone well at all. I don't think we should be going back in, but knowing what we know now, I'm not sure that Leave would "win" again, or even come close. Although, that's a moot point I suppose

And he would need to win one (possibly Clacton if Farage had to resign as an MP) to become an MP, as only MP's can become PM's - same path as Andy Burnham is taking.

That's not true is it? I think practically they have to be an MP, but legally they don't - I'm sure we had this conversation on here a few months ago when Burnham first popped his head up.

Anyway, if Farage goes, then Reform would lose a lot of their votes/support, probably to Restore

Starting to understand why Coutts didn't want anything to do with Farage

Yes. Monotony. We all know which issues Farage has brought to the forefront of British politics. You can deny all you want. We know.

It hasn't gone as well as it should have - of that there is no denying. You have addressed some of the issues why.

One day, we may get the chance to realise the true benefits.

Probably but it won't happen.

"One day, we may get the chance to realise the true benefits"

May, not your prediction of the next Thatcher, but a realisation that its all not working out very well

There is no law that you have to be an MP to become PM but to be PM you are accountable to Parliament and the MP's (including the PM) are the ones held accountable by Parliament.

People who are not a MP's can be made Life Peers and serve as PM as Life Peers are accountable to Parliament via the House of Lords

Reform could win the next general election and Zia could become the PM BUT he would have to wait until Reform forms a government and vote him in as a Life Peer before he could become PM

(He needs to be 'elected' either as an MP or made a Life Peer before he could become PM, he couldn't do it as plain old Zia).

Yeah but my point is that he caused them.

Are you trying to say that nobody talked about immigration before Nigel Farage came along? Because they did.

And his crowning 'achievement' has been Brexit. Which led to much higher levels of immigration.

So yeah - I've still got no idea what point it is you're trying to make.

He is partly responsible for the shite that the current government is now trying to clean up. I'll give you that. But it's hardly something to crow about is it?

Enoch Powell's River of Blood speech in 1968, I remember all the fuss it made at the time.
