Records to CD's Help Required

Right, I've got a 7" vinyl record that I want to play in the car, unfortunately I haven't got a record player in the car so I want to trim it down with a makita jigsaw, till its 5" in diameter, it should then fit into the cd player...

Alternatively, I may favour the Poolewood with variable speed inverter drive. If I use the bowl turning attachment I can rotate the headstock through 180 degrees and gaining additional clearance from the lathe bed I can turn also lp's into cd's too.

The final touch of course, is the colour. They wont work unless you spray them silver and for that I have been recommended Halfords Chrome Wheel Spray which produces exactly the right sheen for a CD if applied correctly. Since I can't sand the disc down first as it will damage the grroves, I will require a good self etching primer.

My problem is I know f??ck all about etching primers. Can anybody help?

An alternative would be to find your tune on the internet, download it and copy it on to a CD-R, and the place the CD into your car CD player.

As an added bonus you can find other pieces of music that you like and fill the CD up with all your favourite tunes.

all the best

Just downloaded an Ian Brown concert, The Music concert - and Ian Brown's Music Of The Spheres CD. But how can I get these onto vinyl?

I've got another torrents site just for punk. its more of a request site - but you usually get what you want. I'll dig it out next week.

You need to think laterally. Get a record player for your car! Easy

aye, then club the fcuk our of your CDs with a lump hammer until they're wide enough to play on the record player. Bingo!

Why not tape the whole top 40 off the radio and play that on your in car radio cassette system?

Having sat all night in desperate torment, I'm not so sure that I wan't to reduce the size of my vinyl and it seems to be too much aggro that way - an easier option is to just purchase a 3 Series BMW, as they're an 80's vehicle, they come equipped with a Fidelity S40 red plastic record player as standard spec' I believe.

That said, I have a cunning back up plan which is not to use the Poolewood after all as I've been reliably informed that this is the amateur's choice. No, for a higher degree of accuracy and available options, I've chosen one from the Hapfo AP range, the 5000 is good value for money and includes a 60-100mm steady, a flip-over chisel rest on the copy platform for those nice little 90 deg cuts and also with a precision setting gauge, sharpening machine and superior reverse cut facility to speed up the fluting process plus a boully system which speeds up production to allow AT LEAST 60 x 3" say, coffee table legs, to be turned in one hour - 60!!...this is the better choice than the Fisher Price Poolewood option.

As for the Colour - It's got to be the superior Harry Moss primer range...

However, I may still change me mind

Could you not just put it on an 8 track :D :D

Lithen here Widneth two hat'th, don't be such a lathey bathtard!

I have also been trying to find a way to get vinyl onto CD and have concluded that it can't be done without a phd in sound engineering.

Here are simple step by step instructions that may as well be written in the Cyrillic alphabet:

Good luck.

The nice man at Richer Sounds said it was a piece of cake.

I have a piece of cake but it doesn't look much like a CD to me.
