I told my missus beforehand that I felt Kindelan had nothing to prove, so was surely coming over for a last fight pay day. And surely Mr. Warren was offering more to the Cuban to lose than win? He really didn't put up much of a fight in my eyes. Taking nothing away from Amir Khan, he fought well. It looked nothing more than a TV showcase to launch the professional career of Amir and a defeat would have been catestrophic. Good to hear Rosenthal describe Amarillo as "The Bolton Anthem". I bet the Falkirk boys have something to say about that.
May 15, 200521 yr Kindelan didn't get paid for the fight, nor did Khan, they are amateurs!! He'd be jailed in Cuba if he was found to be taking money for fighting. Kindelan was in the country with the Cuban team who have been here fighting England. He will become part of the England Amateur Boxing hierarchy in a few months 'coaching the coaches' if you like. Quite what it all has to do with Frank Warren I don't know, Khan has no allegiance to him yet, but Warren probably financially set up last nights event for Khan as an incentive for him to sign with Warren. As much as I doubt there was any 'fixing' (Kindelan has Olympic gold medals and a very proud record. Why throw that away at this stage?
