The missus has just come back from a week in Dubai where she was seeing her sister................the relevance of this is that it means that I have a "free pass" to watch the whites where ever they may be in Europe later this year! :D/

well, she was either doing that or being "pumped" by a big arab - either way she brought back 4000 B&H which cost her ??160, she then promptly sold the lot down the pub for just over ??500 which more than paid the ??260 for her flight out there!

 

I was offered the chance to go out with her (I went with her last year), but that would mean that I might not have enough holidays left for the European tour

As it is outside the EU you are only allowed to bring back 200. That is why she brought back all the same brand, if she was cauught she would say that she thought you could bring back what ever you wanted for personal use. At worst case they will tell you off and confiscate 3800 and you lose about ??150, but if you get through, which is quite easy, then you stand to make around ??350 profit.

 

It's a risk, but well worth it.

 

When I came back the other year I brought 2000 through with me, when I went throuigh the "green channel" there was no body there to declare my goods to even if I wanted to.

Well that's not exactly true is it

 

Miami White for instance, got locked in a Turkish prision for 3 days (in the same clothes) after attempting to leave Turkey with exceeded duty free limits

 

Mr H was forced to bribe an Indian Customs Officer in Goa earlier this year only to be stopped at Manchester by Customs who confascated his tabs and put a permanent record on his passpost. Whenever he flies in future, he will be detailed at customers (which is a good diversion for me). His bird also had her passport marked cause they were travelling together and she didn't even have any tabs at all

 

So, don't think it is easy..... No only are you risking imprisionment but you are also defrauding the government

Customs tried it a couple of years ago but where forced to take all the posters down by the EU

 

There are no guidelines any more, as long as they are for yourself there are no restrictions....... You pay tax in the EU country you buy them, hence the little duty stickers on the packets

If you saw the French exchabge students who ram the bar, you wouldn't ask.

Tenerife, along with the other Canary Islands are 'duty free' therefore EU limits (ie no limit for personal use) do not apply.
