How do we rate Jussi?? The guy certainly has improved since he first signed for us he can now collect crosses. I feel he doesn't command his area at all which a keeper shud do!!! We all no the guy has the worst distribution in the premier, only Gilkes of Rochdale can claim to kick a ball worse than our finn!!!! I know he is a good shot stopper but name me a keeper that you can't say that about. In the top 3 keepers in the prem Allardyce says i say no way. What does everyone else think???

jussi's biggest problem that he sometime has a bad day at the office, where NOTHING goes right for him. if he makes 1 mistake he is bound to follow that with 3 or 4 more...

 

but most of the time he's a very decent keeper...

True he's in the top half of keepers i just wish his kicking would improve its mad how it never does!!! All the training they do. Who's the new keeper coming in january i was away when we agreed that deal???

Wlker has done well in the 2 full games he has played so far cant think of any mistakes but he wasnt good enough for leicester mad hey!!! As long as jussi knows somebody's breathing down his neck!!!!

the problem of his not commanding his area may be due to him not being multi-lingual to connect with his back four...having to repeat the same instructions in 3 or 4 differant languages

I agree - but can't help think Jussi would have got a hand to that goal in Besiktas though.

Walker is undoubtedly a class 'keeper.

 

He just has the tendencay to make a few howlers now and again.

 

And just for the record, Walker left Leicester because he was still on Premiership Wages and they couldn't afford him not because he wasn't good enough.

Aargh got u so we picked up the big wages. I am not doubting he has been a good keeper but i agree that he should have got to the besiktas goal. Does anyone know anything about this keeper in january?? We have a youngster called Chris Howarth i hear is going to be very good. I would love to have someone who could put some real pressure on Jussi for his place because Walker isn't that guy.

he needs to improve - which in itself is silly as he has been here for nine years i think which is ample time.

Yes I too think the criticism of Jussi is totally justified.

You blokes need a shit keeper between the sticks for a game or two so that you can appreciate how good jussi actually is.

 

I think he is probably top 5 in the prem at the moment but has room for improvement.

Two years ago I was baying for a replacement, back then he was the weakest link. Before that he was the proverbial "dodgy keeper" full stop.

 

This year he has made some top drawer match winning saves and I reckon he has been the difference between us being on 23 points and 15 points.

 

However I now concede he has improved over the last two seasons and his kicking and decision making has improved with age. I'd still like to see him come and catch the ball more often but with todays lighter footballs that move about that art has mostly died out.

 

Looking at others in the Premier I'd say he aint far behind Van der Sar and Robinson (who is still capable of the odd gaffe amongst great stops)

 

Cech is out there on his own though.

Right then...

 

1- walker was signed as a cover keeper with experience,

2-jussi doesn't perform as well when 'under preasure' from others

3- jussi walked out of traning when dropped for the plodiv away game

4- the main part to jussi's training this season is kicking, he works at this daily with Fred Barber, Ian Walker and often Keith Brannigan

5- Wanderers employed jonny wilkinson's kicker on ??3000 a day to improve Jussi's kicking technique

6-the goalkeepers spend many hours away from the main squad, this involves u16's, u18's, resi keepers, gk coaches, and Jussi!

7- Jussi often comes across arogant, however quiet and focussed are other words used to describe him

8- Jussi is aware that his kicking isnt the best part of his game and doesnt appreciate ironic cheers when he gets one right (this hasnt happened for a while though)

 

I have been VERY critical of Jussi in the past and was one of those who recieved the two finger salute away at Boro but seing the other side often opens your eyes to thoughts that maybe he is infact a dedicated bloody good keeper and it would cost a lot to replace him.
