REPORTS in the media, last week, had suggested that Wanderers first choice goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen has yet to sign his new contract at the Club.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce confirmed today that contract talks are at a standstill and that the Finnish international may move away from the Club in the near future if the situation is not resolved sooner rather than later.

The 30-year-old is out of contract in 2007 and Wanderers are keen to tie him down to a new deal under their current playing structure.

Confirming the latest situation with Jaaskelainen's future, Allardyce said:

"It is true that we have not resolved our contract negotiations with Jussi (Jaaskelainen).

"The situation is one that looks like it might not be resolved from a legal point of view.

"There is a stand-off in terms of a legality of a contract that other players have signed here. At the moment, he doesn't want to sign, and we don't believe that we should give him something different to what other players have signed here.

"Jussi is a valuable asset and if he isn't going to sign his contract, then the club may wish to cash in at some stage. That could be in January or at the end of the season if we have not resolved the situation."

He agreed a new 3 year deal at the start of the season, but it still has not been signed as he allegedly wants more money.

He currently only has 18 months left on his contract. If he doesn't sign by the end of January, we will sell him for about ??3M to Arse I would imagine either in January or at the end of the season

no he's not [-X

We'll bwfc came out at the time and said he had signed. Just read the evening news and it says that he never signed the deal. Its not about money according to the B.E.N. They said he "wanted something that the other players do not have in their contracts"

I reckon it was that "He gets dry bummed if we win"

Horwich ITK ie Rivaldo

He has kids and a wife.

He isn't gay...

Is he in a situation at the end of the season whereby he can buy out the remaining part of his contract which the club he is going to will do anyway thereby saving a transfer fee,

"Peter Harrison tells me he's got a club for him," the Wanderers boss added, "but nobody's made us an offer. Is that why he he hasn't signed his contract?"

also in same article

Wanderers have also hit a snag in contract talks with Tal Ben Haim, although it is not thought to be the same problem as Jaaskelainen's.

Arsenal desperately need a keeper if they want to challenge for any honours

So do we now.

Losing Jussi would be terrible, he's been the difference between 3 or 1 points many times this season and losing him would add another category to our 'to buy list'.

If Bolton wonna do well on all fronts IE, uefa cup, FA cup Carling n most importanly the prem, then selling one of the best keepers in the prem for what i would call peanuts (??3M is fook all for a keeper of the standard jussi is) isnt the right way to go about it, simple as, the only way it would make any buisness sense is if we had someone lined up to replace him, or if that al habsi turns out to be of any use

peter harrison is the tool who said that rivaldo was coming.

no, i was the tool that said that

I think he's a goner (or a gooner :D ) every other player seems to be happy signing this "bit" of the contract apart from jussi.

sell him in jan for ??4

anything less, keep him till his contract runs out.
