Undersoil Heating - The Truth

Featured Replies

I have it from certain sources that the undersoil heating system doesn't actually work. It needs replacing actually and the club don't want to rip the pitch up to do it. :-s

From certain sources, eh?

It was clear for all to see on Sky that it doesn't work!

Well if you don't switch on a system that doesn't work you'll have problems

Like I said yesterday, it's like a car that you don't use that much. You turn it over every now and then to tick it over and to make sure it works, especially before you got to work. In this case work = football.

If thats the case wouldnt they just invest in some heated blankets that protect the pitch or large fans that they use else where?

I suspect like Happy said, they only turned it on in the morning (probably to save a little bit on the gas bill) and then realised mid-afternoon, that it wasnt working in the middle of the pitch

What a load of cr??p. The usual "certain/reliable source" theory is nearly always total rubbish.

Do you think the club would risk not being able to play another home game until mid February, or even in to March due to adverse weather conditions?

Actually, it's more like your central heating system where you need to exercise the pump during the summer to make sure it runs in the winter. Now, if they had one pump feeding the system (or a duty/standby arrangement) then it wouldn't fail just in the middle. Which is why we need to know more. And I can't believe they've got an electric system because they cost a fortune to run. However, if it was an electrical system then that wouldn't need to be switched on every now and then - in fact it would be dangerous if they did.

well let's face it, we've no shortage of large fans :D

C U N T !

I'll be making my obligatory New Years Resolution of cutting my body mass by 25%.

our suggested solution was to allow 15000 on the pitch just before kick off and let them piss on it.

Something dodgy happened yesterday.

If it was genuine I hope Allardyce is glad now for fielding a weak team at Sunderland. Still cant understand him at times.

at the end of the day BWFC incompetence strikes again, the only area of the club that functions is the first team the rest of the club from top to bottom is a shambles, always has been always will be.

you must have spewed up 25% of your body mass in Istanbul :vm

Mate of mine, a heating engineer said it takes approx four days for the system to kick in, and it is computer controlled. The computer would have alerted the maintance lads if there was a problem.

I suppose if this is the case someone will get a good kicking fir not doing their job properly.

Because of the postponed match I had to go drinking from 17.00 hrs and continue till gone midnight taking in the Merseyside derby a pizza and a chicken kebab from Little Shittaly.

No wonder im fat

years gone by they use to have blokes in long coats feeding wood, coal paper etc.. in to big oil drums and setting then alight to de-frost the pitch. maybe the way forward is the oil drum instead of this lardy-dar central heating system :-k

Surely we could have got a couple of dozen people to go and blow some 'hot air' on to the pitch for a few hours.

Sue the club for the cost of your night out. ??3.50 for kebab, ??4.50 for pizza and about . . . .what's the price of ale in town nowadays?

Should get a tenner off them.

whatever happened, every cloud has a silver lining

"We asked to bring our Boxing Day game with West Brom forward to December 24 but were refused because the Premier League said it would give us an unfair advantage. Yet you can say your undersoil heating doesn't work. Surely there was one electrician in Bolton who could have fixed the problem."

There was, but he couldn't come out until, well, erm, might fit you in towards, let's see. . . . end of March do you? Shall I put it in me book?

According to Sky Sports News last night, the problem isn't that the undersoil heating has broken down, it's that we've put too much soil on top of it on parts of the pitch. Now that actually makes far more sense, as some of you might have worked out from other comments I've made the whole "part of it having broken down" business didn't stack up.

So, an electrician would have been as much use as a lion-tamer in that situation.

a lion tamer could have got a lion to drop a huge shit therby defrosting part of the pitch.

given the pitch level has been raised, does it now mean that our high balls are not as high as repeatedly reported? :-k

Correct Smiffs. It also means that Jussi can kick straight, it's just that everyone's perspective is altered by the pitch curvature.

EG, come on love, the pitch would have to be at 45 degrees for that to be convincing

:D
