Warbies

Featured Replies

Every other thread on here bangs on about Gartside being satan - the man saved our club and is doing his best to ensure a financially sound future -- am I the only one who doesn't want to be where Derby, Leicester, Ipswich, Leeds, etc are???

I know its frustrating we havent signed anyone, but if you want to point the finger then surely the Warbies lot have a few questions to answer - they've had a large slice (sorry) of the club for a long time and have put nothing in. It's these people who are in a position to help the club by putting money in and make a difference.

Warbies - where's the bread????

Warbies don't own the club anymore....

On the same note Eddie Davies does and is probably worth more than the Warburtons, (i am sure i read an article once that said if he was to sell up he would get ??100 million) so if anyone needs to dig deep.....

According to the 442 football rich list the Warbies as a collective are worth more than Davies. However, they are not much to do with the club anymore.

I think finger pointing re: finances has to go to the previous chairman and his construction company...

Gartside is guilty, but really only for running a ship with the same PR kudos as a Fred West. His handling of the financial situation is good and I do believe that we are an extremely efficient business unit.

Warbies don't technically own the club but they are still on the board and one of them is vice chairman.

Does anyone reckon that they hold these positions for the love they have for the club or other reasons?

Warbies and Gartside out!

theres no 'technically' about it

'they' are not on the board

brett is on the board, a board that the major shareholder/owner is happy to trust

is it a crime to have more money coming in than is going out when debts are still over 20 million

i also don't get this 'gartside is useless/a bastard' cos he makes allardyce work for his money

i thought that was good management meself

Maybe, but it will blow up in his face.

You can't keep asking a bloke to do his job with one hand tied behind his back, no matter how good he is at it.

Maybe, but it will blow up in his face

maybe

so long as it blows up from a position of strength, ie 6th in the league, it should be manageable

as gartside has said many times, priority is financial stability, and while that may come from winning the champions league, it is more likely to come from 3 or 4 more years in the prem

we still haven't resorted to selling our best players, and it's not like we haven't any to sell

Brett Warburton is on the board and I'm sure there is another of the Warburton clan on there as well.

The whole point is that every one of our Premiership rivals are strengthening their squads. They will all have some form of debt burden, yet they continue to consistently find cash to strengthen their squads. We don't. The more this happens, the further we will fall behind everyone else. Plus, we run the risk of alienating the best manager in the club's history, the playing squad (Nolan's comments) and the fans (as can be seen by the comments on here).

We have to buy when we are strong. This is the strongest position we have ever been in.

I don't buy all the stuff about Davies saving the club either. He's a businessman and saw an opportunity to acquire the club and it's assets at bargain basement prices.

Don't mean to sound like Fanzantan but I'm feeling very glum this morning.

Milk Roll's nice though.

Trouble is Warbies wont spend any of the family millions as "not all the family are football fans".

And Eddie Davies said that he wanted the club to stand on its own two feet and so wouldnt be bank rolling us.

Despite no signings dont forget we have 3 good africans and okocha coming back soon.

who is the third good african, and what about jaidi :D

plodder will be better soon, as well

What I think piss's people off , well it does me ... all we hear is we are in debt, cant throw money around (which is fine) but when the ground is half empty, then they start giving people shit about not supporting the team and Sam, but the fans are in the same boat , why should we the fans get in to debt or more debt just to watch BWFC, we have all got bills to pay and kids and family to surport, when it would seem that BWFC are not willing to do the same to help Sam out, to at least to bring one player in who will push for a first team place.

Double standards if you ask me . do as I say not as I do

Gutted this thread was not about that fine bunch of warriors - Warbies Mob who used to wreak havoc on the Embankment for years. Great memories of a Man U - Leeds FAC semifinal where they sorted out allcomers and that superb banner they used to string along the back of the embankment "Freddie Hill Alias God" Happy days.

How much debt are we actually in now? Is it still around the 30 million pound mark?

I thought we had it down to 20 Mill :-k

My only thought when I saw the title of this thread!

The first real "firm". They roamed the embankment in two's and three's but had a canny knack of mobbing up unnoticed alongside away fans as they gathered under the scoreboard around 2:30pm.

Any young wannabee who sidled up to that lot on a Saturday got told to fcuk off in no uncertain terms.

They seemed to disappear around 75.

That match brings back memories, about 1969 i think, i was only a kid (so i might have got the year wrong) queued for ages to get a ticket, and finally got one for the embankment. I think Billy Bremner scored at that end,and all the Leeds fans (who had been silent) pulled out their scarves from under their coats and started twizzin em round above their heads.Man Yoo started sliding out of the ground 5 mins before the end to kick off with Leeds fans,it was the first time i'd ever seen violence at a footy match on a large scale, and as a young wanderers fan it sure wasn't gonna be the last! Must admit i can't remember the "warbys mob" that night, but they seemed to enjoy legendary status at Burnden in those days.

That and us finishing in the top 8 of the Premier League season on season with players costing 2 and 6. Cheers Eddie.
