I checked this out yesterday, there are trains almost every half hour leaving Manchester, changing at York taking approx 2 hrs 40 mins. Returns are the same, approx every half hour! Where are you looking?

At that price i'll be taking the coach thanks.

The place is an absolute shit to get to and from for the match without someone driving. Me and a mate are making the trip and overnighting fri/sat. TravelLodge was the best bet but the ones near the centre are booked.

Whitley Bay is a good place to stay and I also believe it is a good night out now as well. It wasn't when I lived there.
