It's official - Johnson to Everton

Just confirmed on SSN.

I have mixed feelings on this one. Shame we missed out on a decent player but good to be linked with such a player and good to see us competing in the ??8 - ??10m bracket.

If nothing else we have forced Everton to spend way more than they intended, and as they appear to be in the same bracket as us for signing players, we may be able to beat them to other signings.

I think BWFC are still in the unfashionable category when it comes to players deciding on where to go, it may take a few years yet before that changes. Still being involved in transfer sagas like this must help.

Bad ragging mistake for me. I believe we'll finish higher than Everton next year.....and hope we do even more so now, so he can realise he made a mistake by joining Everton.

I hope Sam can go out spend that money on a better striker than Johnson. It's so frustrating, because we're having no luck with transfers again.....Johnson's gone to Everton, Fortune going to Celtic. So ragging frustrating. ](*,)

I'm glad we aren't signing him to be honest. He isn't worth the money.

If I didn't trust Gartside, I'd think he'd had a word with Kenwright and asked how much Everton were going to bid for Johnson then he'd make sure Bolton's bid was there or thereabouts. It keeps the manager sweet because he suddenly thinks he's got cash to spend and it keeps the supporters sweet because they think the board has suddenly got ambition. Obviously all of the above would only apply if I didn't trust Gartside.

it's the style of our play that's unfashionable not the club. AJ will be going to a club that will be playing a similar formation to the england team. He'll have Beattie to partner him in a 4-4-2

Personally I don't think it's bolton he's rejected, but the style of play. and to be quite frank, I'm glad he's not coming.

AJ is a 'striker', whereas we don't technically have a striker in Big Kev, but more of a ball winner/chaser and holding player. Not often you see our strikers clean through the channels 1-on-1

I'm sure he will be a great success, just like that other fat England wanna be over at Everton. :D/

Would have had him but I do feel for ??8.5 we had a lucky escape as that has to be 85% of our transfer kitty???

everton are welcome to him he wont score 20 plus goals next season from open play

Only 1 striker in the Prem will!

oh, you mean micheal owen, or big shev, or henry, or rooney, or yakubu, or drogba, or robbie keane?

Henry - that's it. None of the others will IMO. Bare in mind the question was OPEN PLAY so no pens, no free kicks.

Henry scores his fair share of free kicks though.

Let's buy him then, be a good replacement for JJ. Can he do long throw-ins too?

No, they make his arms ache.

He's no use then.

That's what I thought.

How about Steve Watson from WBA? They've gone down, so he'll be cheap. Scored a few times against us and has a good throw.

was i the only one worried that sam was that game robbie williams organised ?

we will be agter zola, marradonna and bryan robson

We're signing Jonathan Wilkes and the guy from Shameless.

As long as we don't sign Bradley Walsh, I'm not having that money-grabbing murderer playing for us.

Steve Watson sounds spot on. Sounds too English though so we should go for Zoltan Gera too.

we were never going to sign the guy they just wanted the season tickets to be sold.

do you know of anyone who bought or renewed their season ticket on the back of this bid?

Mrs Johnson didn't buy one on the back of it.

i do hope ur joking traf he is finished.

personally i am thrilled johnson has gone to everton, in my opinion kenwright bottled the situation when he heard bolton and wigan were prepared to pay 8.5 million, i think kenwright should have walked away from the deal but his ego would not let little bolton or wigan outbid him.

At the end of the day if all the teams had stopped at ??8million and no one went higher then Jordan would of have to accept them so its Wigans fault in trying to wipe out the competition by saying they will go higher expecting that no - one would of.

What's the point? Johnson still would have went to Everton.

My understanding was that Johnson had spoken to Wigan (& obviously Everton) but was due in Bolton this week. So to say 'after days of careful consideration...' is a bit rich considering he hadn't heard anything from us.

He'll get booed at the Reebok this season but they're welcome to him at ??8.5m.
