I think that Campo will go after that because it looks like he is second best now and that Alladyce does not want to give Campo ??30,000 a week like he is asking for. I say get Hamann, might be 1 year older but does a better job than Campo, and might work out cheeper, as we then have the the midfielder we needed then we can go out and buy a striker and so called "younger players".

I'd have Hamman any day infront of Campo. He is a far better all round player and will not make half the mistakes Campo makes. You won't get the excentricity that you do with Campo but for me that is a good point. I also think that Campo couldn't give a fcuk for Bolton and he just wants as high a wage packet he can get.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez cleared the way for the 32-year-old midfielder to meet Trotters boss Sam Allardyce for talks on a possible ??500,000 move.

 

Hamann said: "My heart's with Liverpool but I have to do what is right, the decision to sell me isn't a shock.

 

"Deciding whether to go is very hard, but Bolton are the only club to have shown any interest."

 

Hamann, who joined Liverpool from Newcastle for ??8m in July 1999, triggered an automatic one-year extension to his contract when he made 22 first-team appearances for Liverpool last season.

 

But stiff competition from Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Momo Sissoko has put Hamann down the pecking order and Benitez has told the German he can go.

 

Allardyce is keen to inject fresh blood into his midfield after releasing Jay-Jay Okocha and failing to agree new terms with Ivan Campo.

This is yet another example of the self inflected problems Sam is going to face in signing players this summer:

 

- get totally side tracked with the England job interviews

- spends 2 weeks preparing a powerpoint presentation

- seriously takes his eyes off the day job

- vital points are dropped by the club that employees him in the run in

- miss out on European football for the following season

- potential new signings in the summer are not as keen to come to 'little' Bolton as they dont have the attraction of UEFA Cup football on offer

 

 

It's going to be the same old story, I am sorry to say. Last minute signings of Johny Foreigner as the August deadline approaches

Think a big problem with any transfer targets at the moment is that they still don't see us as big enough. Example with Hamann, to be me its sounds like he is touting any more offers before he sits down with us. Which is fair enough as he is looking out for himself. However this seems to be a running trend that players use our interest or even contact offers to beef up the offers of other clubs.

 

The club seem to be more ambitious than in previous years but players still don't seem to be sold on the idea that Bolton would be good for them!!!!

I think Hamann would do a better job than Campo. Was relied on brining Liverpool back into the game by stopping the West Ham attacks and did the job well. But joining us on a free then the 500k on appereances might be a very good deal for us. We are then able to look at other at other positions to stregnthen with a little bit more money. The money could go to finance a striker and either Malbranqe or Milner??

I think Hamann would do a better job than Campo.

 

 

 

Campo is a creative midfield player (well he thinks he is!!) but as your own posts says, Hamann is defence minded.

Yeh but play in the same position as a holding midfielder!

I'd sooner have Hamman. And he's from the fatherland as well, so that's another bonus in my eyes

but hamman is better at doing the actual job at hand, sitting in front of the back 4 and breaking up play

though we do need another midfielder in who is more creative i agree alongside hamman

Hamann has played at a top level and performed for years. He isn't exciting or spectacular to watch but is very good in the defensive midfield role. Obviously he's not one for the future but we could easily get 2 years out of him.

 

Would be pleased if he signed.
