jules_darby Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 I understand the comment about trying to win matches etc, but there's a fine balance and that could also be the diff between 8th and 15th in the league, which means an extra ??3.5m income to the club if it doesn't work out. One of the reasons Sam sticks with Davis IS his defensive duties and work-rate, BUT we can still play to win with 4-5-1 if the wide players are given the freedom to attack and interchange, which they do when we're at our best although rather too infrequently for my liking. I think our formation is dictated by our players and their quality rather than the other way around; for example if we had have signed Andy Johnson (and no it wasn't a Season Ticket selling scam before anyone starts), then I bet we'd start the season 4-4-2 and we still may if Allardyce, Garty et al can find the right man...
YATESY Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 What with? His turn of pace or never say die work rate Ability to score a goal out of nothing
Guest Biff Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 JFH's biggest asset is that he can con referees into giving penalties for his dives.

Guest Biff Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Nugent played for Preston against Chorley this afternoon. He scored a second half hat trick in a 4 - 1 win.
Eddie Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Nugent played for Preston against Chorley this afternoon. He scored a second half hat trick in a 4 - 2 win. Hardly a decent standard to be assesd at.
Whites man Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Nugent played for Preston against Chorley this afternoon. He scored a second half hat trick in a 4 - 2 win. Hardly a decent standard to be assesd at. I agree. Anyway a player can be judged by playing Championship Manager, there is no need to leave the house.
