Rubbish Pies

Featured Replies

The Mail On Sunday magazine (I didn???t buy it, honest) did a feature on Premiership pies yesterday. Anyone who has had the misfortune to sample our wares of late will be unsurprised to hear we fared badly, scoring just one out of twenty for our lamentable ???cheese??? and onion offering.

Wigan were best with an impressive eighteen points.

Who???d have thought?

wigans pie are fantastic!

had one of ours on sat, theyve change fer the better no doubt...

What sort are they now?

Normally have at least 2 a game :p

Deliah Smith liked our pies so much, she changed supplier at Norwich.

Then again, she was probably totally and utterly pissed.

Think ours are Ashworths from Preston.

You'd know if they were Wilson's! :good:

Think ours are Ashworths from Preston.

Ours are indeed Ashworths.

They sell them in Asda too.

They are shite.

i am pretty sure wigan and bolton pies are from the same company

Bolton should reinvest in the local economy and sell Carrs Pasties.

how anybody could mistake last seasons pies for hollands is beyond me. there were fooking shite, burnt shite at that!

these new un's are at 100% improvement, i actually managed to finish one without having to rinse it down.

still charge ??1.90 for the fookin privilege though!

They were Ashworths last year, but what are they now??

It's important you know!!

BTW Wigsham sell Poole's pies, and they are indeed the best on the market.

And cheap as well.

im not quite sure what make they are now...

The first thing you'll notice that the pie no longer comes with plastic packaging baked into the pastry, which a great start. although this can lead to the dribbling sales person to leave unwanted deposits on top which you may want to disguise with lashings of brown sauce. The pastry itself is sort of flakey with a sunrise tint and holds the steaming contents with ease, no thumb in pie disasters here. And there is actually meat in them now, which is a nice suprise. But the 'tata is cut into slices which is just wrong. Should be large lumps of spud that look as if theyre cool enough to eat but then burn your pallete to buggery, so you swallow quickly only to realise that was the biggest mistake of the day as now your throat and gut are dissolving with the extreme temperature. The filling is also solid enough that you can take a bite without the remaining contents spewing out all over the chap in front bald scalp causing third degree burns. Overall not a bad gastric delight, not bad at all...

cheese n onions review to follow at the weekend...

Hmmmm....

By your description ie flakey pastry on top, sounds as though they could be Pukka pies, although they tend to be a bit "sloppy" inside, and the potato is usually small chunks, rather than slices.

The fact that they are no longer wrapped could suggest Peter Hunt's or even, please let it be so, Holland's, but looking at the pictures of the new kiosk would suggest that they are in fact still Ashworth's, but to a new recipe.

By the same token they might have done the kiosks before they changed to the new imroved pie manufacturer.

I am confused.

BTW you can keep your "Cheese and Onion" "Pie?" review.

Anyone that eats that shite want ragging and burning for me.

Cheese and onion at a football match..... Nah..... Sausgae Roll review far more important please.

8) excellent

hmm seems they've 'tweaked' the pastry then.

hopefully this will save my fingers from second degree burns from gravy juggling along with saving the resultant mess on the brothel creepers.

I'll look forward to the cheese'n'onion review in earnest.
