Graveson

Graveson says we are one of the 5 British clubs after him!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/5290454.stm

Thomas Gravesen fears he will run out of time before a transfer from Real Madrid to one of the five British clubs chasing him can be completed.

Gravesen told BBC Sport that Celtic and four English Premiership sides - Newcastle, Bolton, Middlesbrough and his old club Everton - were in for him.

But the 30-year-old added: "It's in my mind there are five days left and I go into the Denmark camp on Sunday.

"I fear I'll be stuck in Madrid not playing and doing the thing I love."

Real have told Gravesen, who joined the Spanish team from Everton in a ??2.5m deal in January 2005, that he can leave for any club willing to pay their ??2m valuation.

I really hope the coach will understand my situation

"Maybe in five minutes there's a phone call and two clubs have agreed terms and I can be on my way there," Gravesen added.

"We're in contact with clubs and we're negotiating."

Denmark are due to play an international friendly against Portugal on Friday, before they start their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign away to Iceland on 6 September in a Group E game.

And Gravesen revealed he was hoping Denmark coach Morten Olsen would be sympathetic in trying to help the former Everton midfielder secure a transfer.

"I really hope the coach will understand my situation," said Gravesen.

"Imagine if he says I cannot go and I'm in Madrid for six months and I'm unable to play games.

"That wouldn't help my fitness and that might rebound on him if he wanted to use me as he has done for the last seven years.

"We will discuss it with him and seek his advice.

"I believe he will be there to help me if I need it."

I think he's a decent player with a lot more ability than he gets credit for, but imagine if we signed him - I can already hear the shithouses on the telly giving it "combative" and "abrasive", and banging on about how he'd found his spiritual home in the Bolton midfield.

Much better for our public perception if we nip out and sign a seven stone five footer!

We need less of a combative player and more of a creative one, nobody seems to be able to pass into space at all, except tal from what i've seen.

campo can pass with the best of em

the one that put diuof in yesterday was top class, as was the one he picked davies out with at fulham

Couldn't agree more.

Let's not get carried away about Tal after all of 15 Premiership minutes, though, eh?

no use passing to folk if we cant put the ball in the net

that was ALL we lacked yesterday

its great for us that we've now got two weeks to work on anelka and lets hope watford sees a turn of the tide

Campo was pretty good yesterday, very comfortable on the ball, but since he was fairly far back he's not getting the chances to be so creative. A lot of the time I can remember wanting him to have a pop but he didn't look like he was ever going to shoot the whole game. Most of his passes out to the wings were good.

i hear gravesen has agreed a deal with celtic and 1 english club, his preference is for the premiership, i think we maybe the english club who have agreed to a deal, it is said he is waiting for other english clubs to show interest, that is what makes me thing it is us.

I hope were not the English team in for him. We don't need him. We already have Campo, Speed and Faye to play in his position, we need an attacking midfielder not a defensive one.

Gravesenis NOT a defensive midfielder - he just looks like Stig Tofting

Even if he isn't a defensive midfielder, he definitely isn't a creative attacking midfielder that we need.

He looked like a top drawer player in his final season for Everton I am a bit surprised he has opted for Celtic ahead of one of the Premiership clubs.

Stick them in the Premiership, finish no higher than 6th..one of the biggest clubs in the world? :-k

It's the easy option isn't it, guaranteed to win more games than lose (at a canter) - and Champions league every year (ish).

Champions League football

Any player who signs for one of the Old Firm ratrher than any top 12 Premiership side is displaying a distinct lack of ambition IMO.

Bolton making the UEFA will be a greater achievemant for a player than being part of a Celtic squad that qualifies for the CL.

Celtic will be knocked out of CL by xmas anyway and will finish bottom of their group
