Greatest Bolton Goal Ever

Featured Replies

As a young boy on on the Burden Terrace I remember our keeper scoring from a drop kick. Think it was big Jim?? Great goal and the first and last goalkeeper goal I have ever seen (live).

That Allardyce header was awesome - seen it a few times replayed on the telly (I wasn't born when he scored it).

We were directly behind Jimmy Phillips when he scored against Wolves in 1995, we beat them 5-1 and that goal was a screamer..........still can't belive JP scored it.

What about 'Ritsons Rocket' at Mansfield when we won 1-0 was a blinda. Possibly around 1976

Mind you Bazzer Cowdrill's disallowed volley v Swindon league cup epic, would take some beating if a legitamte goal.

Seconded !!!

What a strike ...could not believe it when i saw the linesman's flag up.

you're all wrong!

what about jim mcdonagh scoring against Burnley at home!!!

now that's a roll call, who was there?? I certainly was!

i was there

pike mill, apologies you'd already mentioned it, just noticed! what a day!!

gavin ward ex wanderer did it for tramere other week against orient i think

he did, but that was a free kick

and, i think it was indirect so without the opposition goalie having touched it, the goal wouldn't have stood

so, i dunno how it can be his goal

i thought it was a goal kick and sure the goal stood??

Tranmere keeper Gavin Ward scored a bizarre opening goal to help his side ease to a win over Leyton Orient.

Ward's free-kick from just outside his own penalty area was assisted by a swirling wind and bounced over his opposite number Glenn Morris.

First you say it was a goal kick and then you say free kick outside his own box.

If it was a direct free kick then it can go straight in. If it was an indirect free kick or a goal kick then it has to touch someone before it goes in to count.

thank you please

I thought it was just a long punt upfield from just outside the area in open play...then the wind took over.

Okocha Vs West Ham

Not only was it a great strike, it kept us up, sent West Ham packing, and made 'wonderkid' Joe Cole look like a right tosser.

Add all that together and thats some goal.

My personal favourite goal was Vaz Te against Guimaraes. I would've killed somebody that night to see Bolton score away in Europe in the flesh. Superb. I didn't even notice he'd come on.

Gavin Ward's "goal" was an indirect free kick for offside. If you see it on TV the ref clearly has his arm raised (he should have sent himself off :D ). I don't think the opposition keeper would want to claim it.

I was there for Seamus' goal against Burnley. He had gone close to scoring with one or two earlier punts.

The best Bolton goal is the next one.

It's a difficult one this: the greatest goals aren't always the most sensational.

Julian darby scored a vital goal in a 1-0 win against Stoke in the penultimate game of the 92-93 promotion season, it wasn't spectacular by any means, nor was McGinlays winner 4 days later from the penalty spot against Preston.

BUT THEY WERE BOTH GREAT GOALS.

Biff's pretty much right in a way: all Bolton's goals are great.

Biff the philosopher!

Agree with you on those 2 goals.

The ALL TIME BEST has to be Worthys.

Longest drunken celebration? The winner at Hull on that Friday night. :yahoo:

Winnie Winnie Winne........

Frankie's best goal by miles, I was Sat in Paddock Seats as a young 7 yr old.

I was thinking of this one also . Seem to remember playing replay after replay in that game. Or at least I think it ws that one. Non of this streight to penalties rubbish. :)

McGinlays goal at Anfield was one of the finest headers you will ever see. His goal in the first game wasn't too shabby either when he shifted the ball from left to right foot in an instant.
