Are BWFC now starting to lose out financially as Sam is still refusing to speak to them sending out Straccia instead post match. We are also only getting a couple of minutes on MOTD, although some will say there is no change there.

 

I am just wondering when will it all end and are BWFC ultimately going to be the real loser financially?

We cannot take a short term view and yes on this occasion it is on Sky. But the viewing audience will not be as big as the BBC therefore the club will suffer as we get less coverage. The TVR's on BBC are considerably more than Sky.

The BBC only get to choose FA Cup games, nothing else , so whats that 6 - 7 rounds ... sky show live Prem games thats now many, far more then the BBC and there FA cup

Captainmed, without being argumentative i think you are talking total shite!! Sky are the one's who pay the big bucks for TV rights, along with the overseas broadcasters. The BBC hasn't got the muscle to competive with Sky and will never be able to compete for the rights to the Premier League.

 

Thus the BBC has the FA Cup as its only "live" football, which it shares with Sky. So exactly how much revenue do you think we are likely to miss out on each year?? As in this case Sky has picked up our game with Arsenal, so we'll be paid anyway....

Not just that sky are the real mone men, I think that sometimes having morals and sticking by what you think is right, is more important than money. If we did lose out financially I wouldn't give a toss.

Its not just about the FA Cup. What about Football Focus, MOTD, Grandstand, Radio 5 - 909 etc..

 

I know that Sky TV pay the money for the Premier League and the like but a smaller club like us cannot afford to fall out with such a large powerful organisation as the BBC.

 

I agree that sometimes you have got to stick with your morals but surely it is time to call a truce.

 

The lack of coverage long term will harm us as a commercial brand.

Hang about, Captain, it's not as if we got blanket coverage before Sam spat his dummy, is it?

 

Football Focus appearances have always been like rocking horse shit, and we're rarely anything more than an aside on Match of the Day unless we're playing one of the top sides.

 

We're still far more a football club than a commercial brand, even if we do have tubbers with flags running up and down the touchline.

Don't Man U have the same problem with the BBC as Bolton. Yet they are regularly shown on BBC. I don't think Sam's vendetta has any effect on whether or not Bolton's game is televised.

'God Save The Queen' by The Sex Pistols was banned by BBC Radio but it still got to number 1 in the charts, in fact it made the Pistols more appealing. I was one of them that bought the record at the time without already having heard it.

I would rather think of Bolton as the little giant killing club or the rebels of the English league, rather than one of the big boys.

Utd are a world brand though and it would be the BBC who lost out if they played games with them.

Maybe if the BBC accepted that the accusations made in the programme were a load of unsubstantiated tittle tattle, issued a public apology and sacked the production team then I would say yes, maybe time to draw a line under it.

 

Until then, they can f??ck right off as far as I'm concerned

 

(or substantiated the accusation, in which case Sam can do likewise)

Is there a point to this conversation??!?! Each club, regardless of whether it's on Sky or BBC gets a ??150k TV fee from the FA.

We shouldnt care what channel its on.Or how much money we might lose. We Could be out this round. So Get your hands in your pocket's an get down there and stick 1 BIG finger up at the bbc.
