March 24, 200719 yr see the elk scored the winner for france tonight hopefully he will blunt them blades on sat
March 25, 200719 yr class act. what with our striker in top form and our key central defender in top form. will they perform at club level though?
March 25, 200719 yr I read the bit by Stelios on Friday in the local paper. So much for the hostile atmosphere. Greece 1-4 Turkey.
March 25, 200719 yr Typical Anelka goal that. If you give him chance to turn and run at you he will kill you. He seems chuffed to be starting for France so hopefully thats perked him up a bit.
March 25, 200719 yr http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...2016905,00.html Anelka, recalled to Les Bleus' starting line-up in the absence of a number of forwards such as Thierry Henry and Louis Saha, drove home a 20-yarder in the 74th minute to snatch maximum points for his team in Saturday's scrappy Group B encounter. The 28-year-old was deployed on his own up front - a role he is used to playing with the Trotters - and he was arguably the stellar performer in a game lacking in genuine quality owing to a bobbly pitch. Domenech was delighted with the performance of the former Manchester City and Real Madrid frontman, who he has had his differences with in the past. "It was the Nicolas that I like," Domenech said. "When he plays like that, he is a real candidate for a permanent place in the team. "Wasn't he playing in the role he prefers? There are times when these players need to play for the team. When it happens, it is good for the side."
March 25, 200719 yr The Borg got 2 tonight. He's got 12 in 18 since he left, makes me wonder if maybe i'd prefer to have him still here instead of say, Vaz Te. He'd could be like Solskjaer. He didn't even do that bad, with 7 in 19 compared to Vaz Te's 3 in 51 for us. At least he knows what he's able to do (score goals), and does it well even if he didn't contribute much otherwise.

March 26, 200719 yr name me one keeper he's scored past, and i'll give it some thought David James and Thomas Myhre, 2-0 and 4-1. The stats I was looking at are almost certainly either wrong, or they only include starts, and include cup goals.

March 26, 200719 yr Mr Anelka just quoted on SSN saying he hasn't considered leaving yet cos no one had made an offer. But if they did he would.
March 26, 200719 yr Mr Anelka just quoted on SSN saying he hasn't considered leaving yet cos no one had made an offer. But if they did he would. and? stating the bleeding obvious if you ask me...
March 26, 200719 yr agree completely. wondering why he'd bother being quoted. we know he would, but why not just keep quiet?!
March 26, 200719 yr QUOTE(Flannel Truscott @ Mar 26 2007, 12:07 PM) * "Mr Anelka just quoted on SSN saying he hasn't considered leaving yet cos no one had made an offer. But if they did he would." Is that an exact quote word for word? If it is, and it was made in public by the man himself and not his agent then it is not proffessional. Just as bad as Stubbs's "Watch this space" in my opinion
March 26, 200719 yr I have found the link. Is L'Equipe a froggy newspaper or telly channel ? http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...NSURE+OF+FUTURE
March 26, 200719 yr I have found the link. Is L'Equipe a froggy newspaper or telly channel ? http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...NSURE+OF+FUTURE Big french sports heavy paper I think Zozzy, these unwise (but true) statements from French players always seem to crop up in that one while they're on international duty. He said it, let's not have any doubt. But we all knew it.
March 26, 200719 yr reading the comments, seems to me theres only 4 clubs he'd go to if he means that, he'll be with us next season
March 26, 200719 yr I think he may have been misquoted. This sounds a bit more like it: "If I receive an offer from a side who can pass the ball to me more than once every three games I would think about it but at the moment I am lumbered with Bolton."
March 26, 200719 yr Redknapp bidded for Anelka at the same time as we did but missed out. This would be an option for him at the end of the season and Portsmouth will qualify for the Champions League next season anyway won't they ?
March 26, 200719 yr I'm just amazed at the way they rave about our football, especially the crowds and stadia. He sounds like he really loves England...it astonishes me...after all the threads about sh?te atmosphere at grounds these days too

He sounds like he really loves England...it astonishes me...after all the threads about sh?te atmosphere at grounds these days too There isn't a ground in Britain that can match the atmosphere created at that Velodrome in Marseille, 50,000 plus fans standing up singing and cheering with the flares and banners etc........ ............The quality of the stadium compared to ours though was something from back in the 70s
