I think 1 to 1 on a court Ronaldo it'd be close, Gerrard can run, but he's not half as able to beat people. Depends if Ronaldo's in the mood, chances are Gerrard would shrug him off in first challenge and Christy would roll around for the next 20 minutes.

Personally I'd take Xavi, Fabregas and even Xabi Alonso ahead of super meat-head.

put fabregas on a pitch on a sunday morning on a less than perfect pitch and see if he even completes 90 mins.

 

'super meat-head' would without doubt hold his own and be man of the match.

He's got a good point, England can look very very blunt a lot of the time. Fabregas, Deco or Xavi can give a team real threat and creativity, although when Gerrards on form he can tear defenses apart, but only if the team is built around him.

He isn't as gifted as say a Deco, but with the same token Deco can be a lazy fucker and go hiding for long periods. The same cannot be said for Gerrard. Gerrard scored goals, makes goal, can defend, can carry the ball and is very flexible (filled in at full back in the CL Final for instance). Thus Gerrard is considered the complete midfielder by most people who understand football.

 

Still he's a diving little fucker, but then so are all the players mentioned in this thread.

You are right here, to an extent, but I have Pool supporting mates that say Gerrard goes missing for half the games in a season.

I'm Irish and i'd say that even excluding England regulars I could name a good England team that would be better in almost every area than we've got, i.e. Shorey, Barry, Nolan, Parker, Defoe, Cambell, Dawson, except maybe for goals since I rate Given much higher than even Robinson.

Do you even rate Robinson? I've seen him make so many mistakes this season. Did anyone hear that Robinson had trials at Arsenal before he went to spurs and that he failed the reaction and agility tests that Wenger puts all his potential signings in to do? Hence the reason they signed an ageing (but admittedly very good) Jens Lehmann.

Present season aside these two have been absolutely instrumental to Barca's rise from La Liga also rans to Champions and Champions of Europe. Ronaldinho, at one stage, was completely unplayable. Granted his form has dipped, but to question his pedigree?!??!

Carragher is a more important player than Gerrard, he's a top player but not as good as everyone seems to believe.
