I could see Diouf going, but the most persistent link has been with Lyon, and that just doesn't add up. Their need for a striker isn't a particularly sudden one, and if they were going to move for him I'd have thought they'd have got him in before their season started last weekend.
August 7, 200718 yr i have read that without rose tinted glasses and i honestly think the basis of the story is sound. in that clubs who have appointted from within or small clubs who have lost high profile managers have struggled. with regards the other rumours in there i bet you could repeat those rumours of dressing room unrest at every club. i bet there are players at united who are worried that fergie has signed players that might take their positions. at liverpool the changes to the academy led to unrest, i bet peter crouch is nt delighted on the new emphasis on better players. the one point that enzo has picked up that discredits the whole thing is that players are worried that are now concentrating on fitness rather than ball skills.....we are the team that has been slagged off for being too physical and only playing one way, now are giving up our pure football style for a team of body builders ! it is an easy story to write because if we are honest with the money other teams have it will be even more incredible if we maintain our league position, this is why FSA left. There were stories last year that many of the 'senior players' at Bolton didn't think Allardyce could help them to improve their games and that he was rather limited when it came to top player development. You've got to ask yourself why it is that Wigan who have replaced a successful manager with his assistant (who also replaced him when they were both at Bradford with disastrous consequences) have escaped any of the stick that has been handed out to Sammy Lee in the pre-season. Could it be that Paul Jewell left on good terms and was true to his word when he said that he wanted a break, whereas Allardyce seems to be on a one-man mission to claim credit for everything we achieved and discredit the club in the process? Can anyone remember this amount of stick being given to a well-qualified coach stepping up to a management position before? They're queueing up for God's sake!

Since September last year after the BBC documentary and the refusal by bung boy to speak to them, the media as a collective have pretty much been on our backs. I think after a few games in to the season, LSL will have worked this magic and the media will come round to us. Surely, the "hatred" must go up the A1 now??
