Not forgetting TBH, it looked like he'd brandished it at him too. He's having a mare, shouldn't there be an option to sub them? Or is it just he hasn't got a grasp of the game and the rules? It's not like he's being doing this job long or owt.

I thought that too.

I have a real hatred for referee's at times

He's an arrogant to55pot as well as a shiite ref

He's been dropped for this weekend.

Referees' chief Keith Hackett has confirmed that Rob Styles will not officiate in next weekend's Premier League matches.

Styles awarded Chelsea a controversial penalty against Liverpool on Sunday for a foul by Steve Finnan on Florent Malouda, but replays showed the Reds defender to be completely innocent.

Styles has since admitted to Hackett that he got the decision wrong but has nevertheless been withdrawn from the next round of Premier League games.

Hackett told Sky Sports News: "I have spoken to Rob and obviously he was extremely disappointed when he looked at the video with the decision.

"He has admitted that he got it wrong, but accountability exists and we at the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) do expect referees to get the big decisions right.

"Therefore Rob will not be officiating next weekend."

Styles also appeared to show Michael Essien a second yellow card without sending the Chelsea player off, and Hackett will look into the matter.

However, he is satisfied that Styles did not intend to caution Essien and was in fact booking John Terry.

He explained: "I've investigated that and it might be the subject of further investigation, but I have been informed by both the fourth official and Rob that it was a basic, if you like, admin error, rather than an error of application of law."

No decision has yet been made on Styles' future after next weekend.

has styles ever been demoted after any of the games he's fuked up when we've been playing

thought not

what about our ref from Saturday?

This is all well and good that styles has had the chop for fcuk?ng up. Didn't our own ref miss a major incident involving Anelka which resulted in their equaliser? Just because Styles does it between two BIG teams doesn't make it any more a crime than between two lesser teams.

and a dubious penalty. thought Cid got the ball myself.

I thought the flag waver was more to blame for that one. Wasn't sure of the refs position and it could have been on the blind side of him but Sky showed an angle from the touchline and the flag waver had a clear view of the shirt pull and he saw it!

The pen was one of those that could have gone either way really, so i didn't have to many compliants about that, however, it was a definate foul on Nico and if Styles is getting punished then this newbie ref should be too.

Ah good point, although I suppose the lino should take most of the blame for that one, unless of course the ref was in a perfect position to see it.

They are supposed to work as a team, and if it was the linos fault , a bit like ours then they should get dropped just like Styles

Twas on the news at lunch that the Fulham linesman has been binned for this weekend also.

How can a penalty go either way? Its either a foul or not. My opinion he got the ball before he toppled the player. So surely could NOT be a penalty.

The Bellamy penalty could have gone either way.

A lot of folk have said it was cast iron.

I didn't think there was contact. Even if there was, it wasn't before Gargoyle Boy had left the ground, and it certainly wasn't sufficient to send him spinning towards Row G.

i thought the same, plus bellamy had already kick the ball out of player, he was going for the pen all along.

Classic case of 'played for and got'

He would've been fouled if he hadn't jumped I guess

Like you say, could go either way

ps Enzo, you were right about that Utaka or whatever he's called, fast as fook

Why didn't you warn our defenders?!

the ref also missed a blatent goal kick (when he gave them a corner)

and then disallowed a goal for no apparent reason (kanu's header from the corner)

no reason from the tv view, which was from behind kanu and hunt. hunt didnt appear to jump so all we know kanu could have been holding him down.

For exactly that reason, replays showed he got the man first then the ball.
