The Birmingham Goal

Part 1, I have put a red line between Nicky Hunt and the man he is marking, albeit not very well. Note O'Brien is marking the guy who scores.

Part 2, note O'Brien has now moved, again marked in red, leaving his man. Kapo and Hunt haven't moved whatsoever.

Not really seen it since I watched it live, but should Samuel not have cut the initial ball out. A straight cross-field ball about 4 feet off the ground that should never gotten so far; it was all a shambles to be fair

is he blaming samuel, hunt, or obrien, or all three,

You need to run that on for a third frame to illustrate how deep into the six-yard box the cross reaches with Jussi actually stood behind his line - never mind advancing forward to intercept the cross.

What it DOES prove is that people, mostly ridiculously, blindly blame Hunt...but then again we all knew that

And it is a bloody good ball after all's said and done

The damage is done when you allow the cross to come in so easily

Nobody covered themselves in glory did they...

agreed :good:

He's making the point that it wasn't Hunt's fault. That people are very quick to blame Nicky week in and week out when often it wasn't Hunt's error.

Thanks for that CARLOS,

Still reckon Hunt should tried for it though, anyways....

He surely can't be expected to foresee O'Brien misjudging the cross and letting his man go unmarked?

i agree with that seems to get the blame for everything that happens now

The cross should not have been allowed to come in in the first place...but when it did it was a cracking cross, something we used to do when we had proper wingers

Thought our struggling manager had signed a proper winger.

There again we have a proper defensive midfield player at the club and LSL refuses to play him too.

error 1.samuels was to blame came out way to slowly to close the winger down, gardner would not have give him that much time.

2.obrien was badly placed and was actually crouching down very peculiarly as the ball came in and had plenty of time to re-adjust if he was on his toes.

3.hunt was watching this develop as the ball came in, his man did not make a bid to get to the ball, so Hunt should have covered round and would of dealt with the situation if he had.

4.jaaskalinen should have been on the right side of the goal line and made himself big schmeichel like instead he did everything wrong and showed a complete lack of courage in not advancing toward the ball as the attacker toe poked it towards him.

In conclusion a complete fookin shambles from 4 players all failing to do there job properly I only hope Lee ripped into them called them unproffesional, because Allardyce would have crucified them for such neglect in there duty.

I'm thinking all this and our start to the season proves one thing quite clearly.

If you sell your best defenders [ Faye, Tal Ben ] and buy players who cannot get a shirt at their own clubs [ Samuel, O'Brien, Meite ] you'd better be a VERY good defensive coach to get away with it.

Sammy Lee, whatever other strengths he has, has for me proven that his coaching of a defence is inadequate! I HAVE seen improvements in other areas but we have been severely weakened at the back.

Yes the midfield is as slow [ less fit and mobile than our opposition ] as last season, but from the people we have got in I can see that improving.

The defence however needs help from people [ be that players or coaches ] who are not currently at the club!

I bet you 50p he didn't.

I bet you 50p he didn't.

I'll bet another 50p that whatever he did say included phrases like "What I've said is", "As I've said before" and "Far from it" :)

Well, after walking through the car park, he could tell them that he is selling their expensive cars, and all they can drive is a Ford Ka.....there would be some tears then....perhaps the players could subsidise the away travel as a punishment......but we all know this wouldn't happen. Pity really

it would be ''remiss of him'' to use phrases such as those.

earlier i said hunt was at fault, although id only seen the goal once.

i agree that obrien was at fault now, still a serious lack of communication (or deafness) though.

and samuel should certainly be doing more to stop the cross.

ya cant argue with the quality of the cross though.

Hunt has been the best defender in the last 3 games.

There, i said it

Hunt has been the best defender in the last 3 games.

There, i said it

Team should be :

Jussi

Hunt Lubor "6ft4" Meite Gardner

Willhelmson Nolan Guthie Diouff

Ali

IMO i still think Jussi's positioning was shite

jussi

hunt, meite, cid, gardner

guthrie, nolan, mccann
