Time To Go Gartside!

Featured Replies

Evening,

i was on the way back from london this evening, i turned on radio 2 to hear the biggest bunch of crap ive heard in a long long time...

MEGSON FAVORITE TO BECOME BOLTON MANAGER!

this in itself is enough for gartside to put his little photos what he has on his little table with his other belongings and get his fat ass out of bolton, what an f**king idot.

what happened to Mr Jewel, or even Souness?

hes embarrassing to club and supporters, not to mention leaving the next manager in a very difficult position with europe on thursday....

To draw another daft analogy, it's like turning up on a blind date to find Ann Widdecombe waiting there when you were expecting a stunner.

Phil Gartside is the chairman of Bolton Wanderers.

He is a businessman based in Lancashire and is Chairman of Chambers of Commerce North West. Phil was born in Dublin on 23rd August 1941 in the Dublin suburb of Whitehall, to parents Margaret and Patrick. He attended Larkhill Boys School and St. Aidans C.B.S where he first donned studded boots. Phil had a short stint as a semi-professional footballer in his youth with local side St. Kevin's Boys F.C. and also had trials with Aberdeen F.C. and Stoke City F.C.. Although unsuccessful this was not to be the end of Phil's love and influence with the game of football.

Phil studied commerce in Trinity College, Dublin throughout the early sixtees and this is where he met his then girlfirend Mary-Jane Sommerfield, the fundamental reason for his relocation to England.

Phil had his first taste of Bolton Wanderers in the early seventies, when he watched them play in a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa park. He was immediately captivated by the passion of the fans and when his then business partner James Connell offered him a season ticket, The Trotters became a part of his life forever.

He was appointed onto the Wanderers board of directors in 1988. Eleven years later he succeeded Gordon Hargreaves as the Bolton chairman.

Under his guidance the club have become consolidated in the English Premier League. He had a close working relationship with the club's former manager Sam Allardyce despite allegations of "bung" taking made by the BBC Panorama program [1]. He has seen a number of high profile footballers arrive at the club including Youri Djorkaeff, Jay-Jay Okocha, Fernando Hierro and Iv?n Campo.

He is affectionately known as 'Gartslime' by the Bolton fans. He is also a prominent football administrator and currently is a Football Association Board Member.

So according to the gospel of all internet information, our Chairman is a 66 yr old Irishman who almost made it as a professional footballer. Got the wrong bloke here or what !? :nea:

Like the last bit though..............

He doesn't have to say he's favourite - we know he is. He wouldn't have gone in for him twice. He'll be appointed in the next 48 hours. Daily Telegraph isn't usually wrong about these things. Gartside OUT.

If Smeghead comes, Gartside must go. Cant explain how much i dont want this gut at the club. Necer felt so disillusioned. Would have even took relegation with LSL. At least we would return as a side playing football!!!!!!

how do we know? because some journos have said so?

a couple of days ago they were all saying it's definately Souness, before that it was definatley coleman and Jewell has also been a definate too.

until the club itself says we've appointed megson i'll keep my pitch fork in the shed.

I suggest you move it into the house and keep it close by. We've been in for this guy TWICE. That says he's the one we want. You don't need to be a journo to put two and two together. All we can hope for is that the club can't agree terms. Otherwise we're fooked.

and get twelvety

It's all being done on the cheap again. Apparently Leicester will be happy with ?300,000 compensation whereas if we want Chris Coleman it will cost us nearer to a million.

Appointing Megson as a manager will spell the end of our reign in the top flight. Relegation is bound to follow.

That fooking flag has alot to answer for.

Oh and you can tell it's half term.

?300,000 for that useless ginger t**t, Gartside won't spend that on a player but will waste in on that piece of s*** what the fook is going on.

Garside out, he's lost the fooking plot

Gartside & co will not spend money on bringing in a top manager. They will bring in a cheepo journey man such as Megson with little top flight success and expect him to work allardyce miracles again.

These days are gone splash the cash Phil or step aside and let someone else come in who is more willing to do so.

Because they'd make more money by saving a few grand now and losing millions if we get relegated would they??

FFS get real

Edited by jules_darby

FFS you moaning bastards, Bolton Wanderers will be playing at the Allianz Stadium Munich in two weeks time under the chairmanship of Gartside. We have bought one of the best centre forwards in European football for 8million(if I was Anelka playing in front of wank Bolton fans I would get the f*ck out of here in January) and we are paying top dollar wages to our players. Gartside appointed an unproven manager from Notts County who brought more success to the club in a few years than we thought we would achieve in 100 years.

If it's not sack Lee for bad results or sack Allardyce for long ball it's sack the Chairman.

FFS - you are calling for Gartside's head before he has even appointed a bloody manager.

I can see the Megson noises to be a smoke screen to allow Gartside and Curtis a free run at their main target.

What they are doing this time around is what should have happened in the summer after FSA left - that being a full and proper recruitment process where all available options are considered. Do you honestly think that the likes of Sourness was ever better than 4th or 5th choice but he was given an opportunity!

The only reason Megson is making the headlines is that Leicester have refused permission and they are letting the press know this = easy story for the media.

Here F**kin Here!!! Out with fat Phil

change the record you dick

change the record you dick

Its the F*ckin board that needs changin you Knob!

You really are showing yourself as being a clueless nobwit. Why should the board and/or chairmen be changed? - also, presumably as you claim they need to go, have you any idea who should replace them, I presume you have thought it all through.

No matter what you think of the board or Gartside, under their stewardship, the club has enjoyed the best few years it has had in living memory (unless you're a really old giffer)

Plus Garside stated and I quote "For the record, Mark Curtis is assisting the club in the process of finding the suitable candidate for the job. He is not representing any of the people on our target list."

Now it wouldnt be like PG to lie to the fans

Who is on this target list ? if we had our choice who would we pick ? we all have our own views give them a chance to try and sort it out no one would have picked bfs eight years ago.

Your making all the right sounds. I hope your right pal, I hope they are thrashing a deal out for Coleman in peace.

At last a modicum of rationality. All this reactive, knee jerk rubbish is making us look like idiots. Ok, people feel strongly and Megson's record is not something anyone of us would want on a CV, but whatever your views on the Chairman and the Board Zozzy is right.

People mention John Collins - he doesn't want to come. That's it. End of. Martin Jol is still in a job at the moment and Colman might have had a really poor interview. Other than that his record is average at the very best. We are BWFC, we are not going to attract the manager who have teams or have managed in the Champions League despite one glamour tie, the UEFA isn't a top competition for the very best coaches.

So we're left with a very small, middle bracket of managers (as we always will be for a club of our size) who are a mixture of the experienced who have had some failures and the realtivley inexperienced. Because of where we are in the league and the status of some of our players; I believe we need the experience of a manager who has been there. If we were trying to win promotion out of The Championship I would disagree. But we need someone to take a firm hand and steady and already sinking ship. This is probably why Souness was looked at.

When Allardyce took over we were in a very different position and the fans gave him time our expectations were not as great. Our expectations should be about survival, Allardyce came to embody this club and was the main reason why many players signed - he also got the best out of those he worked with. Of course his departure has caused unstability the players liked and repected him. A new manager will have to win them round, but he can only do that with us backing him.

If this appointment is a total failure then we will all have good cause to question what is going on with our club, appointing an inexperienced manager such as LSL was a mistake and one that this club can ill afford to repeat and I am sure that Gartside and the Board are fully aware of this.
