Fookin ell who writes this shit?

"We have been able to interview a number of quality candidates and have taken into consideration all the factors which we consider applicable for the post and, after due consideration, decided to offer the post to Gary Megson."

At least it's been well 'considered'

It'll be directly dictated by the fat self-loving one - Garty. Who is probably in his office now having a glass of champers feeling pleased with himself... without a f?cking clue or care about what the fans think

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

i feel sorry of megson, he's gonna get some serious abuse tonight i think.

Likewise, Can't fault him for wanting to manage us. Its the fact that Gartside hired a man who's track record ain't good enough for the job at hand.

As I queued at the ticket office last night. A bloke in front said he'd ran into Gartside and pleaded with him not to sign Souey Or Megson. " You'll be impressed " was Gartsides reply. If thats true then

Gartside is living in cuckoo land & taking BWFC with him.

This is diabolical.

His record is awful.

Gartside said "he is prepared to roll his sleeves up and has the right

temperament for a battle"

Bollocks - lets prepare for the battle of championship football more like.

Even my Stockport County mates say he ruined the type of play and killed

the flair players who left.

This sends out all the wrong signals.

Lets enjoy europe, we won't be in it for a long time after this season.

two and a half years.... :unknw:

maybe someone does have a sense of humour at BWFC with that pic of the orangutan

As already mentioned if I was in the postion of Gary Megson I would accept the offer from Bolton Wanderers, Its a step up for him back into the premiership and therefor im not blaming him for showing self ambition

Im not suggesting he's any good but im not booing him for taking a job at a premiership club!

The List of candidates for the job was pretty shocking and we actually have the worst of the bunch as our new manager. Apparently Megson is very defensive minded which leads me to think the only reason for Gartside appointing him is that he may turn out to be another Allardyce. Bugger all ambition shown yet again!

I think we need to get behind Megson and be positive. Before it was decided who we would appoint, I really didn't think that we would get relegated, we only need a couple of wins to be out of it and have had a couple of games that could have gone either way.

What concerns me is Gartside saying "he has the right temperament for a battle, which this season is undoubtedly going to be." Where's the ambition?! Surely as a club we can't be so reliant on one man (BSA) that we go from challenging for the Champions League one season to being only ten games in and fighting for survival?! I hope that the players don't think like that.

I'm hoping that this is a one season fix but fear that we will lose our quality players in January and not replace them. If we can consolidate, maybe we will be a more attractive prosepct and get a better manager and start thinking about playing a more attractive game. We just need Gartside to put some money into the club.

Getting on Megson's back before he's done anything isn't going to help. He hasn't managed a club or team like this before so hopefully things will be different. It's Gartside we're unhappy with, Megson hasn't done anything to us.

The problem now is do you let Megson loose with the kitty . I certainly wouldnt . Its a perfect situation for Phil Gartside.

I think its a case of get us out of the shit this season and we will see!

The manager, players AND SUPPORTERS all need to scrap!!!

I suspect that this is why Megson is the ideal candidate and Souness didn't want the job... Gartside said there was no money. Surely that's why BSA left, he was probably told he would have to sell Anelka. Megson's used to it so he doesn't mind. I'm not happy about it but maybe he'll prove us wrong.

The man has been out of work for two years after taking Forest down. Prior to that he took West Brom down. He left Leicester in 19th place in The Championship. He has a win ratio of 15% in the Premier League. That's as bad as it gets. I would not have thought it possible to dismantle all the good work of the previous eight years in justsix short months. As one e-mail to SSN said, 'R.I.P. B.W.F.C.'

My anger is with Gartside, not Megson. He's just the poor fecker who will be known as the manager who killed Bolton. Anyway, it'll probably be the last managerial job he has once he's been sacked with us.

Ladbrokes dont even give him 10 games - though fat Phil has "never sacked a manager". Megson is perfect moving forward, because we wont need a manager with experience of Europe. Enjoy Munchen (cant make it :-) ), it'll be the memories of all memories.

Gartside Out for me - I'll be bringing a banner to protest before and at half time and after the game. Gartside more interested in the FA than Bolton.

Megson has got it easy really - no one expects him to do anything, and when he doesnt who will be surprised? Anything else is a bonus.

I could use a million expletives, I could hire a hitman, today I really feel devestated.

if there isn't any money, thats the decision of davies

if anybody thinks garty didn't want to ring jose up and offer him a billion pound transfer kitty, theyre fooking stupid

fact is, he hasn't got it to offer

not his fault, just the way it is

and no, i don't blame davies either

Was the Orangutan not Megson? :nea:

Don't you start having a go at gingers too!

Read the other pinned message at the top . P.G he doesnt mean it honest

I think it is blatantly obvious what he is thinking, cheap/budget/sell better players and get us up next year.

which I reckon was the criteria when we appointed alladyce

i think the problem is gartside won't budge from his vision from when we first got in the prem, i.e. finish 17th

they budget every year for a 17th finish, anything else is a bonus

it's a gamble

it lacks ambition

but it's what we're stuck with

I'll stand up and say GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE.

It is not the appointment to wet the lips but of those men available - who is?

The fcuk up from Gartside came in the summer when we were in a very strong position. The short list he has had to pick from this time, wouldn't have even made the top 10 five months ago.

We may be bottom of the table but we are not cut adrift and there are some very winable games coming up. Megson may jsut be the no-nonsence manager to turn things around.

BOLTON WANDERERS FOOTBALL CLUB are delighted...

Shame the fans are not. The law of probability says that at least one Bolton fan is happy with this appointment. I'll buy you a Subway if you're honest enough to admit it!!!

Can't explain why but this feels like an even lower point in our history than relegation to the old Div. 4. I hope I am wrong but I feel we have just signed our own Premier League death warrant.

This appointment smacks of all the negatives I can think of but it will make no difference. Borrowing from the early 70's, BWFC OK.

Because we had no hope and no ambition in the bottom two divisions. Recently, we've been shown that we could - just could - be a top team. Unfortunately our board doesn't see us as a top team, they just want us to hang on in the top flight until the debts are cut. As fans, that means dull/defensive football to scrape results and hang around - which isn't going to include Anelka and Diouf. Sod the entertainment and sod the fans - after all, they get more money from Sky than the turnstile.

The quality of football was far far worse in the lower divisions, but it was exciting and it was entertaining - sometimes for all the wrong reasons. But it was entertainment - maybe we'll all be experiencing that in a quarter empty stadium in the none-too-distant future again.

After literaly minutes of quiet contemplation, I'm coming to the conclusion that this is a very poor appointment.

HOWEVER,

as Casino has said, the fans, whilst low down Gartsides list of concerns, deserve a full explanation in much the same way shareholders in large companies do about significant events. Simply saying he's the right man for the job frankly doesn't cover it yet I fear this may be his only reasoning. Of course, if he's on the make somehow (and Megson's odds shifted very significantly on the exchanges a few days ago) then we won't hear a murmur from him.

As ever, Gartside is aware of fan devotion and knows that he can rely on 15,000 come what may. I think he's made another gamble with Megson and he knows it, but he's also aware that in many respects he has nothing to lose.

Poor decision, but he's pulled it off once before so we can only wait and see.

While I think the Megson appointment is ridiculous, what really gets my goat is the 2.5 year contract they've offered him.

FFS, sign him up until the end of the season and see what happens....you know....like proper clubs do.

Fat Garty out.
