Megson On Gmr...talking About Nolan

Did anyone else hear Megson's comments about Nolan on GMR...said he deserved a goal and was excellent today. I am sorry but i just don't see it, Nolan can't tackle, can't head, he is a yard if not two behind the play, he runs round players and never gets stuck in, he look absolutely nackered most of the time....however he is one heck of a pointer...one of the best in the prem...if England needed someone to point he would surely be the obvious choice.

OH yeah and why the hell is he still captain....

Gavin McCann came on and within 5 minutes had turned over the ball two or three times by good pressure and tackling, which lead to us putting Brum under real pressure. I am not saying McCann is the answer but he did more coming off the bench than Nolan did in the whole game. I would love for Nolan to find his form but nearly every part of his game looks off at the moment.

Thank f?ck Megson is manager :good:

Thought Nolan had a desent game today. Better than the rubbish he had to come out with when Lee was in charge. I know this thread isn't about him but Campo had a stinker.

'tis strange how fans dont appreciate nolans contribution but the last 3 managers have done.

my moneys on the mangers knowing much, much more that any single fan.

For me Nolan had a good game as did Hunt.

Hunt had a beltin game today.

Hunt had a beltin game today.

i am a hunt fan, but how daft was he getting booked ?

campo was terrible today, but so were anelka and ehd till last 20 minutes.

ehds goal was class.

anelka was poor today, but he only needs a half chance to score a goal..

hopefully, his lack of team play for 90 mins will put off anyone making any serious offers.

Campo did have a bad game today. But its not often that happens.

Thought McCann didnt do bad when he came on.

I am more than happy to be wrong about Nolan but could you tell me what the manager is seeing that i am missing. When i see player like Guthrie playing the way he does and compare it to Nolan, Guthrie just looks a different class. I still maintain that he can't head, he can't tackle, and he is still a yard off the pace, IMO

leadership qualities?

maybe nolan is telling guthrie what to do and where to be?

I'd love to hear your opinion of Lampard.

if you compare goals scored and assists for nolan and guthrie you will find nolan is miles ahead.

we are a much beter team when nolan plays...21st century roy greaves..................FACT

Leadership Qualities?... could be, he does do alot of pointing!

One thing was very clear today...getting rid of Jaidi for 2 million was a great bit of business by the club!

Lampard... no real opinion as i don't watch him week in week out.

we were abysmal until campo was rightly taken off, a splendid decision to replace him with Mcann who closed space and drove the team forward the team then clicked into place anelka diouf and nolan all played well in that final 20 minutes.

I thought the ginger one chnaged the game with his use of subs.

the question is when playing teams like this at home do we need the holding midfiled player,,,,,

probably not, but while our points total is so low, I will put up with it as a clean sheet will more often than not win us the game with the quality of Anelka.

mccann must be in with a chance to start sometime over christmas, he has been impressive last few times i have seen him play.

i for one remember the enthusiastic chant of " please please shoot roy greaves" so i dont really follow your thread greaves was a dog

Guthrie?

Does a lot of really good things, but observe how many of those are at the business end-very few (if any)

May grow into it

Nolan has been really good since Ginger started

yes yes yes, nolan the captain of our ship of our ship

i am a hunt fan, but how daft was he getting booked ?

Was always coming. I noticed quite early on there were a few afters between them both off the ball.

McSheffrey shoulder barged Hunt after the ball had gone so Hunt clattered him the next time he was in sight. :yahoo:

As for Nolan, I agree with most on here, he's improved over the last few games, pushing forward and getting on the scoresheet is all you can ask for.

A dog? You aren't dyslexic and meant 'god' are you? Greavo is a Bolton legend in my book. Took years of stick from stupid old codgers and thick coonts who believed that because he had no. 9 on his back that he should be an out and out striker.

The lad was as hard as nails and BWFC through and through. Played some magnificent games for us. Got the credit from the real fans but the moaning coonts never gave him any. Can remember some magnificent performances from Roy, particularly around the time we were vying for the second division championship against Tottenham.

One of my all time favourites. Once had the honour of having a bite of lunch with Sir Nat and my old man one day at Burnden. Subject of Greavo came up and the great man said words to the effect of 'Hard lad that. If he goes down in a challenge and stays down, he IS hurt'. Spot on.

Roy Greaves, Bolton legend.

aye, being younger than skip :db: i never really appreciated greaves, but my dad always told me if greaves played, bolton played

Greaves was at the tail end of his bolton career when i started going in the mid 70's.but Bolty is spot on with the abuse he used to get,it is a similar thing these days with nicky hunt some players cannot do enough for the moaners.
