Wish I'd Been There

I'm very lucky to have been at most of the matches to have been at over the years;

Man yoo v Bolton 3 wins

Notlob v MU 2 wins

Munich

Belgrade

Arsenal FA Cup

etc

But................I have missed some that I would have wanted to see

Leicester 0 Bolton 5

Man U 1 BW 1 (Bob Taylor) (I was in a shitty timeshare in Portugal-very drunk, though, on Port)

BW v City 1971/2

anything to share?

Southend away first game of the season back int third division.

Besiktas - atmosphere.

Fulham away early 90's when David Lee ripped em apart. Was sposed to be going and my mate who was driving rang me at 10.00 Friday night to tell me he'd sold his car.

Been to them all except... the first United away as I was only 7, Arsenal in the Cup as I was a poor student and Wrexham away, although I went in the cup that season.

been to most of the big uns over the last 35 years, love to have been at the garry jones v man city but was just a bit too young, also missed the southend away, also cardiff away in our promotion year would love to have gone to that, also the spurs away game in the same season, the newcastle cup game at st james was also a big miss, and for some reason the cup replay at st andrews when we played cardiff in a 3rd replay.

Always regretted the fact that my first game was the one before the Everton 50k Burnden semi final crowd; back at that point I'd started going via some friends of ours who got spare complimetaries (through floggin lottery tockets in their shop I think) but obviously they didnt have any for the cup game. 50k at Burnden...sigh. As a little aside there's a lesson to be learnt by the club there. I started by cadging a few compo tickets; how much have they made back off me in the following 30 years?!

Others since then? Wrexham (skint in London), Liverpool Cup (stuck in London), Hull (stuck in Southampton).

There aren't many that I have missed because I couldn't be bothered going and all that. But there are a few that I have missed due to being to young. Such as Arsenal away in the cup.

The main 3 that I have regretted missing are Play-off final for which I was in shitty scotland and was just too young to affect any family decisions, Leicster away which is before I started going to away matches and when we beat United away 1-0. This is the only good result against united that I have missed. I sat in the Stretford End when we drew 1-1 (Bob taylor) and when we won 2-1. And I have been at the few at home.

As well as those there are all the European away games apart from Munich as I was there and it showed me how good they are.

blackburn away last season

damn being in devon!

actually, that's a very good point. Looking back I can't even remember why I didn't do them

Drove to Pisa in a mini bus. Always makes me chuckle when people go on about not flying from Manchester or not landing in the City where Bolton are playing.

Young folk today.

I wish I'd gone to the friendly in Setubal too.

If you had been there you might have thought differently, we were shite, good trip overall though.

Without Europe, friendlies abroad are the future.

indeed, or maybe go to a Rabotnicki Euro away game that's on a cheap flight route. Confuse the locals and annoy Jumbo :good: Oh and get shit-faced :good: :good:

1.FA CUP Second Replay v Newcastle at Elland Road - even though we lost (1975?)

Sat on M621 going nowhere fast with thousands of others.

2. Freight Rover Trophy Win in 1989 v Torquay (4-1)

Still too upset from shambolic showing in same (SHERPA Van) comp Final in 1986 3-0 defeat to Bristol City
