Anybody else hear it?

 

Can't decide whether there was a genuine concern over BWFC or whether it was part of his extended weekend ego trip on the media trail.

 

Nothing greatly new or exclusive, but interesting nevertheless. He said the usual stuff about his last 4 seasons being the most consistent outside the top 4 and how there wasn't the financial backing to take us on. He talked about leaving BWFC in "great shape", How sad he is at the demise and how he blames mis-management since he left. Shame he never spoke positively about our recent run and whether he thinks we can escape.

As the summer arrives his (rumoured) contractual exclusion from managing another Prem team is coming to an end.

 

As you say matey, he has been on every bloody football related programme going this weekend.

 

The man is getting desperate to get back into the game.

 

It is no surprise that he wishes to dwell on his 4 years of success at Bolton rather than talking about his management from the year 2007.

A lad i know did some work at BSA's house recently, Sam apparently said we were going down - because we'd get nowt at Boro or Spurs

He also said, that recent rumours about him being involved in some sort of BWFC consortium - were a load of sheite.

I didn't see or hear it myself but I've been told he got a bit upset, well defensive when asked about Bolton and the sale of Anelka. Said something on the lines of nothing was in his contract, the club didn't need to sell him etc. and blamed the lack of goals on selling him on to Chelsea. Fair point I'd say.

am guessing he meant the contract he signed when he first joined!

 

assuming that's what he meant, it's not beyond the realms of possibility, but it would be very stupid for us to then offer anelka a new deal, increased wages, and then put clauses in allowing him to leave

Not at all. From memory he signed it right at the end of the August window, with Chelsea sniffing round. It makes sense for the club to say, "here's an extra 10k a week, score us a few and you can go in Jan" better than "no you're not goin shut up" and let him sulk and not score any goals.

 

Desperate move but the right one, where would we be without havin him for those extra 6 months - well worth the pay-rise in my humble opinion.

if it was right at the end of the window then we def didn't need to do it, he was going nowhere

 

sniffing around and making a bid are two different things, and as we saw with their bidding, it took about a week to get past that part of the negotiations

 

sam probably knows more about anelka's situation than we do

 

I think he's right though, we didn't have to sell

The selling aspect of this club will always be decided by one person - the Bank manager.

 

the club thought it was worth the risk to make an 8m profit and that we'd stay up anyway. a big risk, but if it comes off, the club will be much richer. If it doesn't, we'll be fooked - that, gentlemen, is business

A few days before he was layed off by the geordies, he went in front of the cameras and said that Anelka was bought as an investment by bolton and was always going to be sold for profit.

he said on sky yesterday that he told anelka when he met him that he could come, do the business and move on, he said he told him 'you want to come back to the premiership but noboy else wants you', i agree, he did get a bit grumpy about it.

 

he's put some ragging beef on as well.

 

the man is a terrible self publicist, i get sick of hearing about his 'success, like, y'know' when he's on telly/radio, as has already been said on here, he doesnt mention 2007 onwards.

 

he apparently became incredibly aloof whilst at our place, and did his full training sessions on a mega phone, not talking to players much etc etc.

 

there's some footage on youtube about his mega phone-antics, weird to say the least.

 

i still think certain people are made for certain clubs, and i think he is yours.
