Megsons Defensive Tendencies

Featured Replies

Bolton are ready to battle it out with Newcastle and Aston Villa for Tottenham's ?4m-rated defender Michael Dawson.

To be fair though, we do need another centre half, as I presume Meite is on his way out of the club

?4m well spent if we have a settled young centre back pairing.

We've had an offer of ?2m for Michael Tong (Sheff Utd midfielder) turned down

Todays Sun so it must be true

What I think we will see with Megson is that he'll be in the market for more English players than we've seen in recent years. Which to me is no bad thing, however that market is over-inflated price-wise so we're hardly likely to get value for money.

Prices for average english players are set to rises even more with this new foreigner (hope that isn't racist you touchy fcukers) rule getting closer

We're hardly likely to find an English equivalent of a Djouri or JJ or Ivan either.

The market in which Sam was operating in to get these guys on Bosmans has dried up...

But yeah, its very unlikely we'll find ourselves signing players of that kind of quality for some time i'd say.

But isn't Michael Dawson WORSE than useless? I'm sure I remember at least 5 mistakes this season from him on MOTD and I only watched it about 10 times!

Michael Dawson + Ledley King = Very good

Michael dawson + Random bod spurs had to stick in there to cover = Shakey

It seems he may need a steady defensive partner which he'd get in Cahill or AOB

Only for the season, apparently.

(from the beeb)

Tottenham captain Ledley King has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The England centre-back has been given the time to recover from a long-standing knee injury, which has kept him out for most of the campaign.

"My knee is actually feeling good at the moment and there is no inflammation," said the 27-year-old.

"But we have to look at the bigger picture and accept that this is an ideal point in time to recover further and make sure that I come back fitter."

He's a crock, though and I was joking. Dawson as replacement for Meite with Cahill or AOB would be a good pool for center defence.

If Dawson was from Romania Spurs wouldn't get 400k for him never mind ?4mil, the guy is all kinds of shite. I'd rather sign Les Dawson.

I like what i have seen so far, AOB is surely on his last legs, even though he had an immense season last year, however i like how Megsons going for young english players, what this club needs ! ;)

aye he's an old fecker at 28 must be retiring soon

Like somebody has already said, with a steady partner at centre back he looked quality and was touted for breaking into the England squad in the near future.

However Ledley King got injured and he got paired with a whole load of shite, Chimbonda at centre back ffs. He was then made to look a lot worse than he actually is purely because the defence and keeper around him were wank.

I personally think that AOB had a very good season and is ok, but IMO the young english partnership of Cahill and Dawson looks a lot better, and personally I think it would be a very successful one. At ?4m it isn't a bargain, but it certainly isn't expensive.

Get him in.

?4m was all Tottenham paid for him, tried and tested in League 1 with Forrest. Now we've got 3.5 years of transfer inflation and a demonstration he can cut it at this level. Given the other factors, not a bargain, but pretty tidy business thanks to his recent form.

He does make the odd mistake, but time is on his side, he has all the right attritbutes to be a very good player, I would think 4 million would be a bargain.
