bolty, i think we should keep out of this thread. Unless across the ditch there they are far different than the vile crap they serve up here. went to chippy yesterday for 1st time since over there last month, for some reason hoping they might somehow resemble proper english fish n chips, they were crap. never again, sticking to chinkys and indian now.

How can they be so different, soggy batter, scrap of lemon fish (shark!), and oven chips, dont even have vinegar, or mushy peas, or gravy, or babbies yeds. . I try them about once every6 months in the hope that it will get better, it doesnt.

The't in t'wrong place matey. Little England here. Good chippies - mushy peas, steak and kidney puds.

steak and kidney puds.

So you can get steak puds in Aus but not in Yorkshire.

How odd

Chippy Lady - "Do you want salt 'n' vinegar"

Me - "Yeh please"

Chippy Lady - "Is that all over, or just over yer chips and peas, or just over your fish?"

Me - "All over"

Chippy Lady -"Do you want diet coke or normal?"

Me -"Normal"

Chippy Lady - "Do you want a plastic fork,or a wooden one?"

Me - "Plastic"

Chippy Lady - " Do you want a white or brown barm?"

Me - "White"

Chippy Lady - "Do you want them wrapping up love?"

Me -"Er Yeh please"

Now its years since I went to bennetts lane (one nan and auntie lived on Wordsworth street, one nan at blake gardens)

and the big question i have is

is it still the same owners after all these years and does she still have that mole ?

on her face, not serving.

As a young kid I always found it something i would always have a reet good stare at.

Real man food that too. :good:

Oh, Rice n Easy. Parking up amongst the houses facing Lex Mead? Forecourt full of Maestros, Metros and Montegos? Evening kick-offs against York City? Walking down the back of the Lever End with a steak & kidney pie, chips and curry sauce from Rice n Easy tea? Norpigs for goalposts, Isn't it? Wasn't it? Sorry, yes she is revdishydave. I called in a couple of months ago to check. :good:

Village in Chippy in Little Lever was/is good it was run by t'english folk then the Chinese folk from Koon Yum took over and kept on the same staff and bloke who used to own it had a refurb and then put price of Chips & Gravey up from ?1.20 a potion ta ?1.55, that is taking the piss if you ask me,all bottles of pop and water are 90p,yet next door but 3 there's a Co-op that sells the same water for 55p,he won't pull wool over my eyes though,im scared of asking for Salt & Vinegar incase he whacks a quid on't tab!

It has to be Chaes Tonge Moor.

Queuein out the door of a Friday tea, with casserole dishes (why do folk do that? Bet they don't in the Harwood establishment)

Also, can people tell the difference between Cod & Haddock? Fecked if I can.

Am I missing something, what is the point of the said casserole dishes? To keep everything warm I assume?
