Where's that?

seek help...

No!It really is sh1t.Do any of your senses work or is it just your tongue thats fcuked?

Wasn't going to buy into this because I reckon the one on Bury Rd (near t'Black horse) mentioned by Smiley is a cracker.

We have one here, however, which p1sses over anything else. Mobys Kitchen in Point Samson. The fish are pulled out of the ocean at the back door; knocked on the head, gutted, battered, cooked. Might not be North Sea Cod but Red Emperor and Pink Snapper are bloody lovely when so fresh.

i hope one of the fcukers eats you

Hopefully, the lass that serves there might?

not jealous or owt

Not really mate although you do have an impressive post count :D

bolty, i think we should keep out of this thread. Unless across the ditch there they are far different than the vile crap they serve up here. went to chippy yesterday for 1st time since over there last month, for some reason hoping they might somehow resemble proper english fish n chips, they were crap. never again, sticking to chinkys and indian now.

How can they be so different, soggy batter, scrap of lemon fish (shark!), and oven chips, dont even have vinegar, or mushy peas, or gravy, or babbies yeds. . I try them about once every6 months in the hope that it will get better, it doesnt.

Croft Street Fisheries in Farsley is first rate, and has been for years. The only downside is that being in Yorkshire the chances of getting a steak pudding are roughly akin to those of sprouting wings and flying away.

And they call barm cakes 'bread cakes', the literal-minded fools!

ok , yorkshire chip shop quiz time....

you order 'fishcake and chips'

what do you get ?

a clue there are three items in the answer......

Fishcake, chips are two

Not sure about the other item

I know the answer, but it would be unsporting of me to divulge...

fish chips and a barm :unknw:

Fishcake, chips are two

Not sure about the other item

fish, cake, and chips... cake being something the missus talks about like a legend of yore. fables are passed down through generations of bradfordians about mythical fisheries, including 'the great cake of bingley'.

i believe cakes are a piece of fish sandwiched between two scallops, coated in batter and fried.

fish chips and a barm :unknw:

nope !

fish chips and a barm :unknw:

Nope. Next...

fish chips and a barm :unknw:

that would be a teacake

Dust the fish pieces lightly with flour and shake off the excess. Sandwich the pieces of fish between two pieces of potato. Dip the cakes into flour and shake off the excess, then dip into the batter to cover well.

worth noting that scallops in this instance or potato not fish......

now if you order fishcake on a teacake or a fishcake butty lives becomes very very complicated.

Tread carefully, you've entered into the great Yorkshire teacake argument. Opinion is divided, some locals arguing quite correctly that a teacake must contain dried fruit, others using the word as an alternative to breadcake. This is more prevalent in South Yorkshire, where I work. However my colleague from Derbyshire reckons that a barm cake should be called a cob.

I don't know how I get through the day sometimes.

PS quite correct revdishydave :good:

bennets lane.....

end of thread..

Beat me to it.

Alice's in town is alreet as well.

Best one in Athy is next door but one to the Jolly Naylor on Market St., always a queue there.

Never tried that one myself but I have to say the Valley Chippy on Bolton Old Road is the best for me in Athy.
